I've seen Teuvo Teräväinen misspelled at least in a dozen different ways. I'd imagine that Hännikäinen, Järveläinen and Laurikainen can also be pretty difficult for some posters.

Finland's opening game vs Latvia is coming on a really ackward time 9:30 AM Finnish time/EET. I wonder how they came up with this time. Do the NA people really want to see a blowout game like this so badly where they don't even have one of their own teams?

Just stopping by with a TV-related question..

I'll spend a couple of days in Finland in between Christmas and New years and wonder if any Finnish channel will air Sweden - Switzerland, on Friday 28th?

I'm not sure, but you can try this one http://www.telkku.com/. Has pretty much all Finnish TV channels' programs covered. Oh and focus on MTV MAX channels. There are 3 of them and C More channels might also air some as they have a partnership deal with MTV3, but I'm almost certain you'll have to pay to see the game if the game even airs here. I'd go with a free stream if I were you.

Looks like MTV3 shows only Finland's games and playoffs.

Free stream it is then.. In World Championship, all games are televized, but in Junior games only Finnish games are, execpt all quarters and finals are televized no matter if Finland's there or not.

NA what? Did you forgot where the games are held? That is the early game time, Cze and Sui games are also that time. It's 13:30 in Ufa.

The point is - I think - that games start awkwardly early. The reason for that is to make it easier to watch games in Canada where WJC's are the most popular. I don't think it's common to have this many games start this early if I remember it correctly from the recent tournaments...

Define awkwardly early. The other slots are 15:30, 18:00 and 20:00 (local time). None of the USA/Can games start 13:30 so what has this to do with NA viewers in the first place?

And coincidentally, 2012 had almost exactly same local start times...

You're actually right. I was just thinking that schedule was made more NA-friendly on purpose but that doesn't seem to be the case

Finland look like a legitimate gold medal threat this year in pre-tournament competition, something they haven't been in a long time! #TeamFINLAND Impressive 5-1 win over the US in their final pre-tournament game!

I'm picking Finland to win their pool. The pool isn't as weak as some may think though. Sweden is definitely weaker than last year, especially on D, but the Czechs have a deep forward group and Switzerland look decent too.

Armia, Granlund, Barkov, Maatta and Ristolainen are all elite. I think you guys should expect to medal.

Wow lucky Swedes once again. Finland has to play Switzerland and then Sweden in back to back days while Sweden is resting & scouting Finland during the Switzerland game. Yeah I know it's based on last year's seedings or something, but still not the right way to decide the group winner when there's such a big bonus awarded for the group winner. Top-6 teams of the previous year shouldn't have to play each other in back to back days.

Well let's just prove Finland is so much better than Sweden this year that they'll beat Sweden regardless of this. Canada has it even worse with USA & RUS in back to back days...

I've seen Määttä (Maatta) written so many times as Maata that I'm actually starting to think that is his real name

The "Listen" function gives a pretty good example.

I really don't appreciate Finland looking this awesome.

Have they faced Sweden in an exhibition game the last couple of months?

Seems like we're (Sweden) lucky to get out of our group alive this time around...

So are Lindbohm, Määttä and Salomäki our captain and alternate captains?

I just hope that all this hype isn't for nothing. It's a harder fall than when we are going in as clear underdogs. I know we are still underdogs against US, CAN and RUS but head to head facing Swedes.
