I see him as a handy, versatile 13th forward, but at his best I don't see him beating out anyone in our top 9.

mittens is definitly my darkhorse winnipeg player- i think he could hit a 30-35 pt pace split between the bottom 2 lines and second PP (noel used him there a bit last year i believe)

over the last half of the season i think he was one of our highest producing bottom 6

If we get that kind of production from any of our 3rd line regulars, this will be a playoff team.

A third line that scores that much in an 82 game season is rare.

I'm still holding out for a trade for Jannik Hansen. He would be a dynamite 3rd line forward for us, with Moose and Manitoba ties.

Not sure Vancouver would deal him. He's the type of player that lineup needs.

Why would they be forced to move him?

I don't think there's much credence to those rumours.

Ya they'll do whatever they can to protect him.
They basically flipped Ribeiro for Roy so they don't need to shelter Ribeiro anymore and give more scoring opportunities to Benn. They are designing this team around him.

Benn might want to move but that's not his call yet unless he wants to sit and not get paid.

About the closest thing to that was when he was tired of all the trade rumours swirling around him. He basically said if he's going to be traded, then just trade him already.

I doubt Benn is available, but even if he was I wouldn't trade Kane to get him.

I know but a guy can dream Benn is a beast can't believe he was drafted in the 5th round.

That was Bobby Ryan that you are thinking of. There have been no reported Benn trade rumours.

I think he wants to be traded as much as O'Reilly, Del Zotto, Subban, etc.

I think people are just saying he's available because he's not signed yet. I don't think that there's been a rumour from either side saying he wants to move.

You guys are both funny! Put this to the test on the main boards and to be honest I think Kane may get some extra votes because people making votes based strictly on numbers with limited exposure.also just making sure you know he's centerman.

Respectfully agree with Zhamnov. I'd trade Kane for Benn straight up.

Either way you have an elite young player though.

We have enough centermen
We have a couple playing wing already
Why trade a weak spot on the team for something we already have lots of depth of?

While their values as players are remarkably similar IMO, frankly, Benn would be a difficult fit into our current forward mix right now; other trades would need to follow.

As well, not sure how anyone could claim that they'd trade them straight up however. Kane is signed to a six year deal while Benn is an unsigned RFA player so there is too much risk in making such a deal unless you were assured/guaranteed that Benn would sign here for similar dollars and term. Kane holds more value right now as such - because the financial risk is at least defined in his case.

This!

Plus Kane is younger and has more upside.

I agree with this with one small edit for my own opinion:
I actually think currently Benn is better... but when you add all the ^above^, plus the likely chance of Kane surpassing Benn... ya... not worth it.

Especially when he's not on the block.

Pens put Zatkoff on waivers, please pick him up. I really like this guy and would love to see him and Pasquale on the Rock. He could end up being Pav's backup down the road, at least a better chance than Dekanich.
