His top end speed speed isn't bad, but it takes him a while to get there.
Its why he really needs to be moved back into the middle of the ice where he is constanly moving his feet. There is way to much standing around and quick starting and stopping on the wing which is making his skating look worse than it is. He simply put isnt a winger and needs to be moving at all times for him to be really effective.
As an aside I really don't like how Spott has assembled his lines, there needs to be a crash and bang type on each line to win races and secure the puck on the forecheck. It isnt supprising that the top line looked much better with Rattie on it than Huberdeau. Right now we have too many unbalanced lines.

Spot is a developmental coach. In a short tournament this isn't the time to try and develop talent.

I agree, I was going to say the same thing. It's a waste of Scheifele's talents and almost highlighting his weaknesses. I think the team would be far better off if Strome and Scheiefele's places were swapped. Stick Strome on the top RW and give Scheifele the second line centre job.

I also agree - would rather they played to Scheifele's strengths, rather than his weaknesses. His top speed is fine now, but his acceleration still isn't great, and that's one of the biggest requirements of a winger. As centre, he's continually in motion, so his acceleration from a stop isn't as big an issue.
I believe that more balanced lines would lead to better scoring as well - let Scheifele centre the second line, and move Strome to either 3C (or 2C with Scheif at 3C), or up to wing with Hube and RNH. I'd also be happy seeing a Camara - Scheifele - Ritchie|MacKinnon|Rattie line. A little more balanced. Camara would be there to make room for Scheifele and the other winger, cause havoc around the net, and clean up on rebounds (as he does in the OHL pretty successfully).

I don't quite follow this reply, not sure where I brought up development. I just brought up as others have mentioned that Mark should be played to his strengths and not asked to fill a role that he isn't well equiped for.
I also agree with the idea of swapping Strome for Scheifele or playing Mark with Rattie and Mckinnon. I think it adds a little more balance to the team.

This is what I was responding to. His coaching is suspect when it comes to tournament play. I explained the type of coaching he's used to.
You know, I love the States. Every time I go there I am amazed by the hospitality and have a blast.
It is so easy however to HATE their sports teams. For instance, the stupid Women's Soccer Team.
I laughed and laughed and laughed yesterday. Watched a sound byte of Seth Jones saying that the US was the best team in the tourney, and then promptly watched them get thumped by Finland.
The only guy I can't have a hate on for is Phil Housley. What a head faking beauty!
Haven't seen him in a game since the WJC last year and my memory was foggy as to why I liked him so much at that time.
I was 6 minutes into watching him last night and he had already blown up a Fin on a clean hard hit, he had jumped in to join a US shortanded 2 on 1 rush, shown very good D zone coverage, as well as executing a nice breakout stretch pass. The thing that jumps out at me right away is his skating, unlike Mark who is still developing in this area, Jacob is already an elite skater. Jacob is also quite aggressive in all aspects of his game including transitional first passes and offensive instincts like pinching and joining the rush.
Flat out this was a great draft pick.
From what I saw of Trouba in the game, it looks like he could be a real beauty. His skating and balance both look excellent, which allows him to be a very effective physical presence. His passing looks accurate and confident. He has a heavy shot, with a good one-timer. To me, he looks like Bogosian with more of a physical edge. You can build a franchise's defence around two guys like that.

Haha, beauty post. I agree with everything, especially the head fakin beauty part

Funny you should mention that Whileee on TSN between the 2nd and 3rd periods James Duthie said "jets fans are some of the most passionate in the league and will be getting on their feet on one or two occasions for Jacob Trouba." and Bobby Mac said "he looks like a man amougst boys" and bob said "jets fans were getting up early this morning to watch the game and allot of them were tweeting 'can't wait to see Trouba in a Jet uniform' a big guy who can really skate, is mobile, and can move the puck." then Duthie said "he has been described as Cam Fowler with an edge, which is an intriguing combination"
Trouba would have had two points in the game if the goal wasn't over turned.
By the way Seth Jones looks REALLY good and Barkov would look good in a snappy Jets uni please.

I am sure Barkov would be happy to avoid getting ran over by Trouba.

Here here to Barkov. We'll take Barkov. Give me Barkov!
I doubt they call up anyone. They already called up McNeil when Hudon went down, so that still leaves them will 13 forwards (including Jenner). The first 2 games are against Germany and Slovakia, then a tough one against the U.S. Jenner is still apart of the roster, so he'll see action after that.
MacKenzie tweeted that he believes they'll simple see the suspension through, and start Jenner in the 4th game.
If he's dumb/selfish enough to throw hits like that in a IIHF tourney, why wait for him? Chances are he'll do something stupid and cost us a game in the medal round or be suspended for a medal round game.

I believe his veteran presence will be huge for the team, and he was easily our best defensive forward against Sweden. There's arguments either way for or against leaving him on the team to serve the suspension. I'm okay with them waiting.
