Kosov hurt early after a great play by the Swiss defenseman catching him on a breakaway...

Also glad the cheerleaders changing out of the neon green outfits, that was distracting

EDIT: **** Bertschy misses on a breakaway and Khoklachev gets a weak one...

SH goal by Bertschy! Terrible drop pass by the Russian D - handed that one to the Swiss.

I can't believe he lasted until the 6th round last year, I figured for sure he was a 3-4 rounder at worst...

Swiss play a pretty aggressive game, if they can sort out their power play they might have a chance in this game.

Grigorenko with his first goal of the tourney - took 19 shots to put one in. Had a great chance earlier in the game, but the Swiss goalie robbed him while lying down - almost appeared that he couldn't buy a goal.

Entertaining game - much more interesting than the US - CZECH game earlier.

Swiss have outplayed the Russians 5v5...they just really need to stay out of the box, they can't handle the Russian PP. Both teams are great skating teams and the Swiss move the puck really well, man they really buy into the system and play such a nice team game, better than anybody else in the tournament...

These refs are just the worst. I really hope Switzerland wins this, it would be awesome.

Lets go SWISS!!!!!!

They really needed that 5-on-3 PP to get a goal.

Anyway, the scores in the other games really shows how much disparity there still is between the upper echelon of hockey nations and the relegation teams. Really thought the Czechs and Slovaks would put up a better fight, very surprising.

That's only at the junior level. Of course big hockey countries will dominate when you only have really 1-2 years of age groups...remember the population differences with very small countries like Slovakia and Latvia, makes a huge difference in the depth. But at the men's level teams like Swizterland and Slovakia are very competitive, can easily knock off a Canada (and have in the past). Hell even Norway is competitive at the men's level, but is not even at the WJC. Junior level really means very very little, most of these guys will never sniff a men's roster.

EDIT: Swiss have to score on this PP...

Yes, agreed. I was referring to the Junior-level only.

The Swiss, Slovak, Czech etc national teams are right in the mix. Just look at the Swiss in the 2010 Olympics when Canada had to go to a shootout to win.

Amazing thing about Norway's national team is they all have day-jobs as teachers and carpenters.

Myth. Those days are passed, most of the team now plays in NHL/KHL/SEL/ALK/SM-Liiga and those guys don't have day jobs. I know that one goalie got headlines, but he is old veteran that basically plays part time now, not representative of the team.

The huge Swiss d-man who looks like he's 30 reminds me ALOT of Boris Valabik.

This kid Andrighetto is a player wow. Him and Bertschy are dynamite. He's a smaller guy, but great hands and wheels, has 50pts in 28gp in QMJHL, he might get drafted this year...

If the Swiss won this tourney that would be great for that country's hockey programs, it's weird but that's the only team Id want to win the tourney other than Canada of course.

I came really close to drafting him but took Trocheck instead.

Their program gets better and better every year. Love seeing the jr team take this kind of step. Love seeing the game grow.
