Thought this would be thread-worthy since it's actually current events/hockey-related. Nice to see Wotherspoon and Brossoit get invited. I was hoping to see Jankowski there but I guess in a lockout year there's just too many others to choose from.

This is for World Jr. Correct?
Very disappointing McDavid didn't get an invite. 35 points in 28 games in the OHL as a 15 year old. Incredible.
Roster looks great overall though. Hopefully our guys make the team and can impress.
McDavid should of got an invite even for the experience of going. Anyways, the roster looks pretty impressive. MacKinnon, RNH, Huberdeau, Strome, Scheifele, Rattie, Monahan, Drouin, McNeill, Canada will have lots of fire power.
All of those defenders are really well regarded, so seeing Wotherspoon in the mix is great. Last season, he more than doubled his offensive output from his draft year. This year, he's on track to more than double last year's production.
Portland is a stacked team which probably helps his point totals, but I'm stoked to see him turn pro next season. John Ramage will turn pro next year as well. That should really add some toughness/mobility to the Heat defense (not to mention Sieloff is only a year behind!).

Historically, under-17s usually don't get invited to the WJC team by Hockey Canada - unless they're a generational talent, since they have a tournament of their own. I think that's where McDavid is playing.

They don't invite players for the sake of gaining experience, they send invites to create the best possible roster for the WJC.
Anyways, I'm really pumped for this year's WJC's!!

Unless I missed it, there would appear to be a grand total of ZERO players from the NCAA on that long list of players above. Is there a chance that Hockey Canada would drop their obvious bias against NCAA players and give Jankowski a chance next year?

To be honest I don't think Jankowski deserved a chance this year he wasn't outplaying anyone that was invited I think if he really turns things on next year there is a chance he gets an invite like Toews got. But Toews was almost a ppg or well over when he got an invite.
You think they're going to show the WJC at a Mexican bar? I'd be surprised.
I was at Playa del Carmen last year, and came upon a hockey bar. Snapped these pics:
They would for sure have games on here.
It was funny, there were like 3 WPG weddings at the time, and the hotel bar had go Jets go chants all night!
Apparently I don't know how to add pictures (it says a security token is missing, whatever the hell that is....), but it was pics of a Jets flag, and a Canucks flag, and inside I got a pic of a Flames flag signed by Brad something or other
