Could be, i've never been there so maybe they just run low lighting. Though most retailers run at half lighting 24 hrs and only go full lighting during business hours.

The thing is, there's no context for the photo. Maybe it's open, maybe it's closed, maybe it's just opened and nobody has arrived yet, maybe it's just a slow time when the photographer happened to be there, maybe this aisle is empty but shoppers are browsing the other aisles? also what does the typical sales day look like when there is an NHL season going on, do we know if this store is filled up on a normal day or not?

Whats up with that?

That said. I wonder what the structure of a 24 man meeting is when one party is half the size of the other.
That's not what Bettman said. He said that "we have the greatest fans in the world". It was pandering and nothing different from what a bunch of players have said.

I do think both sides do take the fans for granted to a certain extent and hope fans prove them wrong.

But yeah I think holiday sales are going to plummet unless the league comes back, and soon. Who asks for NHL stuff for the holidays when there hasn't been any NHL since early June? I've seen a number of posts from fans who specifically asked NOT to get NHL stuff this Christmas.
The picture just shows one aisle too, hell I bet walmart has 1 aisle empty of people, you could take a picture and claim no one is shopping.

I never cheered for an owner in my life.
Even with a good owner, like Mike Ilitch -- the kind of owner every fan should want for their team.

I cheer for hockey players who make great plays that pull me out of my seat or off my sofa.

Sure is a slow news day when the conversation is focused on the lights being on in a store.

Even though Dreger and Bobby Mac have come out and tweeted a few things today, it's still eerily quiet on twitter. Nobody is really saying anything. Trying to remain optimistic here.

Meeting hasn't started yet. Jacobs and Toews are still arguing about who the random pencil they found on the ground belongs to.

Almost three hours in....

Definitely the longest a player attended meeting has gone.

can't completely blame the fans , the league repolished their product so it was nice and shiny with the rule crackdown and shootouts. Not too mention two mega stars that entered the league along with a plethora of young talent.
They don't have that this time around.

This has changed the way I view pro sports in general. Every year "fans" cling to some desperate hope that the sport team they finance will win a "championship" so they can justify their years of undying support and fill some sort of void in their life.
We all want to feel a part of something special, we want to live through these players and their feeble achievements. We turn our clothing into advertisements and wear corporate logos to show support for these teams and give these corporations actual money to watch grown men "play".
I used to play as a child. Now I have to work, and I feel I work way too hard to be taken advantage of.

They are taking a nap. Crosby and Toews are cuddled together in one corner while Jeremy Jacobs and Mark Chipman are snoring up a storm on the other side.

The NHL Store isn't really that big anyway...it's a very high building so it looks bigger than it is, but there ain't that much stuff in there.

As someone pointed out on XM today, when the last hockey game was played Ovechkin was still the #1 marquee guy in DC. Now he's no better than third AT BEST, with RGIII and Bryce Harper getting all the ink over the last several months.
