Jonathon Cheechoo

I noticed we signed Cheechoo to an AHL deal. I'm happy and hope that he can get some big goals for the Barons. What's the story on this guy? He went from scoring 56 goals in 05/06, then 37 in 06/07. After that a 23 goal year then he basically fell off the map.

Do we ever see him in the NHL again? I understand the Oilers would have to sign him to a two way deal since I believe he is only on an AHL contract.

One year wonder?

Knee injury that limited his skating ability. He never was the same after that injury.

He would be a great addition to a rec league team, but aside from that he isn't much of a factor.

I wouldn't say that. If that was the case he wouldn't be able to put up the very good numbers he does in the AHL.

His skating ability is no where near what it was. He's a decent depth option for the AHL given his knack to score goals.

People need to realize he was 25th in goals and 31st in points last year in the AHL. He's a guy that is going to allow the younger players in OKC to get past their struggles.

He had double hernia surgery back in 06/07, and never really recovered.

Injuries effectively killed his career.

Sucks that Pitlick is hurt though, could be out up to six weeks.

Green - Arco - Cheechoo
Byers - Martindale - Cornet
Pelss - Lander - Rajala
Hamilton - VandeVelde - Lizon

Clark - Fedun
Deck - Teubert
Marincin - Lafranchise

Not a bad lineup though, certainly looks better than it did a week ago.
Is Plante hurt? How long is he out?

Tyrvainen is back, so you can add him to the lineup now.

The year before Thornton was traded to San Jose, Cheechoo still scored 28 goals as a 23 year old, so his career was trending upwards even without Thornton.

Take back my 6 week comment, appears Tyler Pitlick is out for the year with torn ligaments in his knee. Even with his less than admirable stat line, this is still a big blow to OKC. To say its been a disappointing season for Pitlick would be an extreme understatement.

What's your take on Marincin of late?

It is hard getting much of a feel for a game on a 4" screen, but after a great star and then some realy shakey games it looks to me like he has had a stretch where he has agian been very good.

As you said, he got off to a red hot start, then had a pretty bad stretch, but now it seems like he is starting to find a little consistency and has played well the last handful of games. We have seen every rookie hit that wall at some point in the season, so hopefully Marincin is over his and will be a solid for the duration of the season. Hopefully he can gain some chemistry with a D partner that compliments his game. I didn't get to watch any of the Grand Rapids game, just the highlights, but it appears that he will be with Nathan Deck perhaps the rest of the way if pairings stay consistent with Clark now in the fold.

How did Pitlick hurt his knee? He's kind of a player that is starting to scare me with his development.

Going into the 3rd, we are outshooting Milwaukee 32-17 but losing 4-0. Roy got pulled after the 3rd goal letting in 3 goals on 16 shots and Bunz is seeing his first AHL action...he let in a goal on his first shot

Final score: 8-2 Milwaukee
Shots: 46 - 29 OKC

Roy: 16 Shots (3 goals against, 13 saves)
Bunz: 13 shots (5 goals against, 8 saves)

Martindale and Rajala with the goals, everybody was a minus player tonight.

That's too bad, hopefully they can get their games together soon.

Ouch Bunz has had a tougher transition to the pro game than most expected, at least Martindale and Rajala are continuing to produce on a team that needs all the offense that it can get.

Rajala is a solid player and so is Pelss. Those two have looked good in almost every game they have played in my opinion...very consistent. Martindale is on a big point streak and becoming much more confident. Rajala had a goal and also had an assist on Martindale's goal..kid can produce.

I don't think anybody expected Bunz to have a start like this in the AHL. Definitely not the first game he was hoping for...pretty ugly all around for everyone though.

Barons keep outshooting everyone and still finding a way to lose.
