It's being reported that WWE aren't exactly pleased with how Sheamus is being received by the fans. It's no secret that WWE have struggled in getting Sheamus fully over with the fans and several boo's have been heard at recent events.
WWE are said to be unimpressed with Sheamus' connection and how he does get over. The Sheamus/Cesaro match was taken very well backstage, especially towards Cesaro and WWE are pushing the idea to Sheamus that if he cannot get the job done, there will be people who can take his place.

He needs to go back to kicking people's heads off and then beating his chest and yelling like a maniac, with a saddistic look in his eyes. When he was monster Sheamus, the look in his eyes resembled Sex Pistols frontman, John Lydon, a.k.a. Johnny Rotten.

He needs to be booked as a badass bruiser like he was from SS '11 - RR '12, not Ginger Cena who talks funny.
I feel like he's regressed on the microphone a bit. He was never great, but he used to be decent. Now he's just bad.
This. I remember his face turn against Mark Henry. You know what was great about it? Because he was basically the same character just stepping up to the monster heel. It was a great turn. You want him to get over? Return him to the ass kicking face he was before you decided to try and make him into Irish John Cena.
Love watching him wrestle, but everything else if awful. Regal talked about him on Cabanas podcast saying how good he is in the ring coming off as the powerful bruiser.
This is off topic, but if you have time I highly recommend listening to the two part podcast Regal did with Colt, what a career he had.

Does he talk about the time he sandbagged Goldberg? That was my favorite WCW moment.

I'll have to check that out. Do you have a handy link, per chance?

Some decent wrestling there and nice counters too by Goldberg. Goldberg's jackhammer at the end was laughable. Check out a YouTube vid of it and listen to the commentary; they say Regal looks confused.

Mentions it briefly, never knew that the Bluebloods tag team in WCW was supposed to be him and HHH, but HHH had the offer to go to WWF, and he asked Regal if he should stay or go knowing full well if he left it could hurt Regal and the tag team, and Regal told him he had to go.
This all stems back to Wrestlemania, and it's all WWE's fault.
This is mostly right. Part of it is the staleness with being a face. Part of it is that his promos as a face just aren't that good or intense. A big part of it is him squashing Bryan at Wrestlemania. Besides, Sheamus doesn't need to be second fiddle face. He makes a good heel in a group that doesn't have many good heels like him. And I'm surprised his buddy Trips, of all people, hasn't pushed that idea for him. They're similar in a lot of respects.
*Can you blame him? It's not like he has complete control over his character.
It's still up to the individual talent to go out there and connect with the fans and get over. As Jim Ross says: It's like in any sport, players need to make the most of their minutes.
He doesn't have much control of his promos outside of delivery so I digress on that point, but lately it seems like Sheamus has been in cruise control all around and has become complacent.

Exactly. I don't think many people were expecting Sheamus to actually lose at WM, but the way he won sure rubbed a bunch of people the wrong way...even the casuals.
I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but WWE is doing their best to screw up his situation.
This is why the IWC says (and is more or less correct on) the idea that most wrestlers are natural heels.
It is so much easier to get over as a heel than it is to get over as a face. It's just more difficult to connect positively with people in general, this is a natural trait, and the IWC is mainly composed of negative people (I feel that way in general about forums or internet sites, maybe it's just the world), so people naturally like to hate; it almost makes them feel good. It's easier for fans to hate than to love, and as a face, it's just difficult to connect. Nobody wants this "Fella, I'll kick the bad guy's arse, I'm cool, I high five little kids, I'm really sweet" when it's just so bland.
If the fans hate you for being a ****** worker, that's okay; you're hated like you're supposed to be. If you get a positive reaction as a heel, the fans like you and you bring in buys.
Sheamus is not a particularly good worker at anything, except for looking tough, and scary.
However, when a heel is more over than the face, like Bryan Vs. Sheamus, and WWE just decides to say **** you Bryan, and he jobs to Sheamus; this buried Sheamus and hurt Bryan too, and just pissed off the fans.
Sheamus should spend the rest of his career as a heel, because face Sheamus is just awkward.
I really enjoy watching Sheamus in the ring, as I feel like he has a nice physical style. I mean, his match with Big Show at Hell in a Cell was great, IMO. The only things that truly rubbed me the wrong way was WM and his ADR match at Summerslam, where he wins by a ref not noticing his foot on the ropes. The two biggest PPVs on the WWE calendar, and he comes across very poorly as a face.
I just hope for a character reboot. I can't find the words to state how much I hate his character other than "awful." What says it all, really, was at No Way Out, with a crowd chanting "LET'S GO ZIGGLER!" and Lawler being forced to play dumb and say "Wow, can you hear these Lets Go Sheamus! chants?" I think he can get over as a face: as someone previously stated, like his feud with Mark Henry, where he stands up to the menace of this monster heel. Just cut the jokes, the racism, and the juvenile crap. Bring the intensity, the fighter's attitude, and the wrestling.
