Irrelevant, he moved to Canada when he was very young, played all of his formative years in Canada. Even his American-born mother moved to Canada after the divorce from Bobby, where I believe she still lives.

He didn't grow up in America, he was born in Canada, lived in the US when his father was playing there but left for Canada when the season was over. He started his hockey in the US but it was nothing serious till he left for Winnipeg. He was only 8 when he moved to Canada full time in 1972. Hull played his crucial development years in Winnipeg and Vancouver, not Chicago.

Great to hear!
the good thing about this is that RHN will be captain.
Giving the C to Huberdeau( WHICH HAS BEEN MENTIONED BY HC) would be a big mistake.
He is not a leader in my books and has shown a bad attitude in last years WJC with bad pennalties.Great guy when he is winning, but when he needs to show leadership, is not there
When i look at him i see Patrice Cormier all over again.
Great hockey player, no doubt, leave him be to play his own game.

I'd think Harrington would get the C. If we look at the last lockout and Patrice Bergeron, we can see that he wore an 'A' and Richards got the C. I think the C will go to an underated but extremely valuable player that the coach trusts. RNH is skilled, but I'd say the coach is most comfortable with Harrington.

A skinny, injury prone, 19 year old, who needs soft minutes and PP time to put up points. Even then he probably wouldn't get nearly so many apples if not for Jordan Eberle's unsustainable shooting percentage.

If I were to choose a captain. I think Harrington or Jenner would be the right choice for captain then maybe Hamilton.

Like this lineup the best so far. I'd have Monahan on the LW and have Shinkaruk as the 13th forward over Catenacci. The D is good.

Further NHL regular season cancellations today. Thru Dec 30th.

So, still no guarantees that everyone could be there through the entire tournament. I wish they'd have cancelled the games through Jan. 15 or something.

In many cases (at least more recently), "making a living" has nothing to do with it, it's that they choose to remain in the US for personal preference. For instance, down here in the Carolinas, there is a huge contingent of northern transplants (I am one of them). They (we) move and stay her for the nice weather, nice ocean beaches, year round golf, good education, better opportunities for our kids, access to great universities, and in some cases, lower taxes. Some stay where their spouse is from also. There are a number of ex-players that have chosen to remain here when their playing days are over.

I bet HC takes about 28 players to Russia. The 23 man roster has to be set on the 25th, but once the tournament starts, you can't add. So, when its underway, they are in it for the duration. I really don't think NHL teams will pull players out once the tournament begins.

They're not on the team, they're injury replacements. Canada has already said they are taking 3 goalies, one as an insurance policy.

allow what? a 23 man team doesn't have to be named until the 25th of December. Once the team is set with the IIHF you can not add. And yes, 3 goaltenders are allowed. new rule.

The rosters have expanded to allow 3 goalies this year.

That's what I said..once the tournament starts, then you won't see a massive recall... however up until the 25th before rosters are set, it's better to be safe than sorry, they leave for Europe on the 15th, so take extra bodies just to have them on hand in case there's a resolution and you get a lot of players getting recalled. That's what I do... what's the harm in being prepared or does HC want to get photo'ed with its *** exposed.

No, I mean once dec 15 comes and they are on a plane that's it. The deal is done. No need to bring extra bodies. It's expensive and not needed. I say name ur players fast and get on that plane. Only rnh would get called back I assume
