Weird view point.. but Burkle, Lemieux, and Sid have looked great in these meetings. IF players are upset with their owners, Pittsburgh might be a fair place to want to be signed.

I'm not that stupid to believe a player would take less money, but maybe..just maybe it would be a difference maker in 2 same offers. Or maybe players will want to stay due to being respected?

Who knows? I'm just passing time with some unusual perspectives.

And now Jeremy Jacobs is telling Burkle and other moderate owners "See, I told you so"

How dumb is the PA? They are just going to cause a season loss and accept the same damn proposal as they are being offered now. This is ridiculous.

I'm not a fan of Fehr at all, but doesn't the latest developments hint that a lot of the vitriol spewed at Fehr over the course of this debacle now seem like it should at least be equally directed at the players themselves? Fehr is by no means a pure puppet or mouthpiece, but it's obvious now what the consensus of the players seems to be.

Fehr's Flock seems pretty damn clueless. Yeah, the mediators that accomplished nothing a week ago should come back and officially signal the end of the season.

Fehr's Flock does know that they will get a worse deal if the season is cancelled, right? The only point of leverage they have is that by playing a shortened season, the owners will recoup some lost money. That's the only thing they have going for them. If Fehr's Flock decides not to play this year, the offer from the owners is only going to get worse.

I honestly have no clue what the NHLPA could be thinking at this point if they don't push to get a deal done. NHL is like the 5-7th most popular sport in the US. The players make millions on average and the great majority of those players have no other avenue that is even as remotely attractive when it comes to getting a job, yet they seem extremely emboldened to do everything possible to subvert an agreement. Haven't enough guys returned from Europe unhappy about the conditions of playing over there to make them realize the NHL isn't such a bad place to be?

I also can't belive contract rights (that affect about 1-2% of the players) could really be such a strong sticking point. Are the bottom-6 grinders and depth defensmen and fringe players and old veterans really okay with that? Yeah, I'm give up a year's salary and possibly help end my career so a handful of guys can sign guaranteed 10-year deals worth 100+ million dollars. Give me a break. I really wonder how the NHLPA would vote if the owners latest proposal was offered up in a blind vote. I'm guessing the majority would vote to take the deal.

It seems when they get traction, the PA takes it back to another step. Anything to stall. Anything to frustrate. Then they whine on twitter about wanting to play the game and fight fans. What is the point? I'll be very blunt, the owners can take the loss. Players cannot. It's that simple. Plus the players are blowing themselves up every single time. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing they even have fans after all of this, and I know i'll be right back into cheering for my team. How ridiculous.

Take this to a vote for crying out loud.

Owners are furious with Fehr, yes. I think they also sense a number of players want to vote on what is on table.

Hopefully it's true. Cotsonika has been pretty much 100% on this b.s. process. Despite Fehr's presence and trying to ruin everything the players will go around Fehr and end this. I still have some, small, little sliver of hope that the players can, and will, do the right thing.

Either way, the players are ultimately responsible due to them hiring Fehr. It could be that he talked them into believing his hype. It could also be the PA behaving as an echo chamber.

This needs to be brought to a vote.

I'm feeling the frustration

It's Don Fehr and Steve Fehr and some players for the PA, and Bill Daly with Bob Batterman (no owners or Bettman) for the NHL

Owners though they had a deal done last night. They did not. That's why many owners left today. Thought they gave a lot.
Many moderates were and are not happy. Larry Tannenbaum, Mark Chipman, and even Ron Burkle. Daly has left hotel.

Only one that could mess this up is Fehr and we are headed down that road. I still haven't lost hope but....

Why can't this just go to vote? I'm positive 30-40% of the players would vote yes just to get a paycheck again. This is SIMPLE. A vote would end it.

After the coup that took out Kelly the NHLPA upper brass redid the entire union structure to prevent any further coups like we saw in last lockout

This is just embarrassing. The players should be embarrassed. Sadly, when a deal is done, they'll say it's for the fans and we will all jump back on board (including me).

How does Donald Fehr get a job anymore? It's ****ing way beyond me.

WTF is going on. Now they are saying on Twitter that the players had a counter proposal ready based off of the NHL's proposal yesterday, but Bettman and none of the owners were there to hear it. These fools can't even get out of their own way.

Fehr is being all positive, but I'll buy it when pen is put to paper. In PR terms, if the league doesn't agree to the PA's new supposedly so close and great deal, the blame gets put back on them

And they want a 6 yr cba.

Quite a few interesting points being made on twitter

-PA is so optimistic but was asking for moderation again this morning

-Fehr laid out quite a few details he usually keeps private and the PA wasn't happy when the league made their proposal public.

________________________

This is great, from Lebrun:

Steve Fehr just whispered something in Ron Hainsey's ear...

Apparently Fehr spoke, players spoke, now players are just sitting around waiting

LOLZ

Fehr now saying he's been advised the moves the PA were not acceptable. So in the end it was all a lovely PR ploy. Fehr sets up a press conference being all positive knowing damn well the league was going to reject his offer (or already had, but was going through the motions).

Cotsonika:

Don Fehr: This looks like it's not going to be resolved in the immediate future.”

LOL. A nice bit of theater

Fehr says they are close to an agreement, leaves the podium, runs back and says the the league left him a voicemail telling them to go home because there won't be any more meetings today or tomorrow.
