Sad to say but this sort of thing was inevitable. Some of the bodyweight percentages these guys cut -- especially at MW and below -- are scary.

Yeah...
This should be regulated somehow. I don't see the honour in competing against guys you are clearly bigger than anyhow. I understand the pressure to win but maybe you should find something else to do if you need to loose 50 pounds to win a fight...

a bit harsh I suppose given this man's death... but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Yep. Really hate the huge weight cuts. I'm not a big boxing thing but I got in to the Mayweather/Canelo thing and saw how they have a certain weight they have to hit even on fight day. MMA regulatory bodies really needs to look in to that. The only time it's been used from my memory was Rumble/Vitor when Rumble missed weight. Vitor said he'd take the fight if Rumble made a certain weight on fight day too and he did.
