The American gangster is trying to step up. That's a great late replacement fight.

Is he still training with hendo? He'd be ready if so, getting him ready for rashad. This is the positive aspect of a fighter fighting close to his natural weight.

I'd love to see Davis come in and get a win over a top 10. Not sure if he can make weight.

Glover was on med suspension, and I read (dont know where, so take it for what its worth) he's been in Brazil for his sister's wedding. Also, Rua previously turned down this fight, stating he'd rather be cut than fight him. Doubt Rua would take it on no notice.

I also cant imagine many LHW being able to cut down in time. If we see a MW step up, obviously Vitor would be a fantastic option.

My other dream fight would be Leben vs Rua. Crippler is on the undercard of 162, so he should be in decent shape (for him). Would be quite the brawl (until they both gassed mid 2nd round)

I dont see Rua staying on this card, though. Not enough time.

Naturally Chael offered to step in. The guy's certainly a character. That's (main) card's so weak I have feeling Shogun will be fighting someone.

And I know Shogun's not quite what he once was, but Ryan Jimmo? Come on now. The guy's never even faced anyone remotely close to Shogun's level. Shogun would smoke him.
I hope he smokes Jimmo, but Jimmo beats the version of Shogun that showed up against Vera. We've seen what an unmotivated Shogun looks like, and it isn't pretty.

Anyways, this Sonnen talk is intriguing but who knows. Sonnen loves getting his name out there.

I may be in the minority but personally i'd like to see Shogun vs Machida III. I'm just not sure if Lyoto would accept the fight on such short notice.

Other than that i wouldn't mind Sonnen. The guy only lost to the #1 and #2 P4P fighters since his loss to Maia in 2009 and he's a ****ing gamer. There aren't many guys who would accept to fight Jones and Shogun on a 8 days and 14 days notice respectively. And i actually think he has a good chance , especially if Shogun comes out as his unmotivated/in questionable shape self.

Sounds like Shogun v Sonnen is on.

This card has taken some hits, but if I was in Winnipeg I would still be happy. Rashad, Henderson, Sonnen, Shogun and Roy Nelson is a ton of star power.

I'd honestly say I think the card has gotten better with the injuries. Surely hasn't gotten MUCH worse. Lot of good fights on it.

I've been seeing complaint about this card, and never really understood the issue.

People complaining about Rashad-Hendo being boring, Big Country... for whatever reason why they dont want to see a knockout..

I never wanted to see Grandpa Rua vs Grandpa lil Nog either. THIS ISNT PRIDE circa 2005!

Chael will beat Shogun if that fight happens.

This might be the most under rated card this year.

Lyoto Machida vs Phil Davis confirmed for UFC 163 in Brazil.

Wasn't Machida supposed to be the #1 contender? I'm guessing that means either Gustafsson will get the next title shot or maybe Jones will be out for a while.

Nightmare matchup for Davis. I'd give him essentially no chance in this fight.

Probably means Gus is getting the next shot as I believe both Machida and Gus were open to a fight between the two of them if Jones was going to be sidelined for a while.

And I agree, Davis is going to be in tough against Lyoto.

Looks like Shogun is off the Winnipeg card. He tweeted that he'll be fighting on the FOX Sports 1 card in August now.

From a reliable Brazilian reporter....

Update: Shogun-Sonnen will probably be moved to UFC on FoxSports 1 #1 card, on August 17

If they were going to take Shogun off the card, Glover would have been a much better fight. Would have given Glover over two months to get ready.

Wow, just brutal for the fans in Winnipeg.

How ******. It's still not going to be as bad as Calgary so that's good for the Peg at least. But that really does suck. First, you live in Winnipeg. Next, your UFC card loses its main and 3rd best fights.

Apparently Sonnen couldn't get a visa to fight in Canada, probably stemming from his legal problems in the past.

He doesn't need one to fight in Canada. The UFC just doesn't want to waste him in Winnipeg.

Urijah Faber vs Yuri Alcantara at UFC on FOX Sports 1.

A bit of an odd match up. Should be another easy win for Faber.

I like this fight better actually, that's going to be a brawl.
