I don't see much of a career for Hamilton anywhere but the AHL. He's got good character, but I don't see his skating matching up well at the NHL level. And while he can win battles at the AHL level, it's much tougher at the NHL level.
I just don't see him as a very good hockey player. Nice guy, though.
Also, with all things considered, I thought Ross played really well. I hope he gets more playing time. You can see why he was picked in the 2nd round. Pretty smart player.
Also also, Ashton keeps getting better each game. May not put up the points, but he's very noticeable. I like the chemistry he had with Colborne, who also looked good in the limited action he had.
Finally, Ranger is clearly an NHL defenceman. It's amazing how smart he is despite his skating deficiencies he developed being out of the game so long. I literally never worry when he's on the ice.
One more point haha Holzer looked reallllllly good last night. It's not even the big hit he had, he was just playing so well positionally, and skating very smoothly. His outlet passes were tape to tape and he looked confident and like an NHL defenceman. I hope he keeps it up, because he's been a bit of a disappointment for me personally so far this year.
Definitely missed Gardiner tonight. You could see it. However it is best to have him a 100% for the season rather than a half-assed Gards due to a hindering injury.
Ross looked good today, however Brust also seemed like a reason we suffered. Also people have to remember Abbotsford are an AHL maniac, they are always damn strong.

Especially when it's only the AHL right now. He has shown he can compete extremely well in the AHL. Nothing for him to prove. Take your time and make sure you are 110% for when the real league starts up again.

I really like some of the defencemen on the Marlies. Gardiner looks like an NHLer playing in the A. Holzer is definitely worth a look as a bottom pairing defender. I like his simple but physical approach. Fraser or Ranger could also be used as the 7th defenceman on the Leafs....both better options than Komo for a fraction of the cost.
Thats quite the complement considering guys like rnh, oel, schultz, hall, eberle are also in the ahl... I think gardiner is a future top pairing dman but cherry might be going a bit far here.

He also specifies "best player that he has seen"... very likely only watched 1 AHL game which was this past weekend when Gardiner scored 2g and 1a...
imo, the only vet's are team should be playing right now. (I might have missed someone, going by memory)
Aucoin
Kostka D
Hamilton
Zigomanis
Ranger D
Fraser D
And we need to play the young guys, can't play them all, but the rest of the spots should be filled by some combo of....
Colborne
Kadri
McKegg
Abbott
Frattin
Ashton
Ross
Deschamps
D'Amigo
Devane
Ryan
Scott
Brenner
Scrivens G
Rynnas G
Blacker D
Holzer D
Gysbers D
Gardiner D
Also, we need to keep things fluid, cause in the CHL we still have some other guys coming.
Imo we should roll...
Ross - Kadri - Frattin
Aucoin - Hamilton - D'Amigo
Ashton - Colborne - McKegg
Devane - Zigomanis - Deschamps
Abbott/Ryan/Brenner getting turns in
Kostka - Gardiner
Blacker - Ranger
Fraser - Holzer
Gysbers (rotating in and out with Fraser)
Scrivens
Rynnas
I don't think we should keep Scott, he's 24 now, we know what we have in him. We've seen him for 4 yrs in the CHL, and 4 yrs in the AHL. When given quality minutes in the AHL, with good line mates. He can score some goals. He's not going to be a top six NHL'r, he won't be a bottom 6 NHL'r. And he isn't a seasoned veteran to help mentor young guys. He's lost his spot imo.
From there you then need to decide, okay, with Ryan he has time to show what he can do. With Brenner, it's hard to assess with a PF, but we have other PF's like Deschamp and Ashton who need those quality minutes to reach their potential and their might just not be enough room for him.
Also cause I'm pumped looking at the CHL guys coming up. We need to with in this season or next season make some decision on guys like Colborne, cause prospects are coming up that need room to grow.
Toninato deserves to get a fair crack. Crescenzi, improved a lot last year, and it's to bad he's still out, but he could be a 4th liner, for the NHL club and should get a shot.
Obviously Biggs will be a big member of the Marlies next year. A 1st line winger for them, Connor Brown has been riding the coat tails of McDavid, but you can't deny over PPG in the OHL as an 18 yr old. Josh Leivo has also been over PPG, he deserves a shot.
David Broll is an intimidating beast, and has spent way too much time in the CHL. If he doesn't go pro next year he won't ever make it to the AHL.
I'm most excited for our D.
Gardiner will move up to the NHL next year, so will Holzer.
Blacker and Gysbers will stay another year to develop, with Percy potentially joining them, Mikus I think should come over next year, but he seems to like the KHL better he's 24 now. Granberg also should come over.
Outside chance for Rielly to come, but I could see Burke sending him and Finn back for extra years.
Just some comments on your comments to due with players graduating to the AHL from Junior.

Toninato deserves to get a fair crack. He's going the college route
Crescenzi, improved a lot last year, and it's to bad he's still out, He's in the ECHL and will move up if/when he's ready
Obviously Biggs will be a big member of the Marlies next year. A 1st line winger for them. I like Biggs but 1st liner as a rookie is a bit optimistic
Connor Brown has been riding the coat tails of McDavid, but you can't deny over PPG in the OHL as an 18 yr old. He's got another year of junior left
Josh Leivo has also been over PPG, he deserves a shot. Again I like Leivo but no one deserves a shot, if he's ready he'll play
David Broll is an intimidating beast, and has spent way too much time in the CHL. If he doesn't go pro next year he won't ever make it to the AHL. Not sure what you mean by that, he's 19 and only a marginal OHLer at this point

Granberg also should come over. Percy will be a Marlie next year and Granberg may also come over, but Gysbers isn't a prospect he was signed to fill in for the dearth of actual prospects in the AHL, and Mikus already came over and wasn't any good, he wont be back
Outside chance for Rielly to come, but I could see Burke sending him and Finn back for extra years. Rielly and Finn can't play in the AHL next year, they are too young
Speaking about the veteran Marlies, is Zigomanis hurt or is he just not able to keep up in the Lock-out boosted AHL? He hasn't had a good game any time I've watched this season.
Now I really hope the MJW don't make the playoffs.
Just the beautiful rushes and the creative offense that would be put on display would be a thing of beauty to watch.
We have 2 studs on the uprise and they will be cornerstone players for this organization for many years to come.
If we get our top 6 in order, we would get spoiled by these 2 and witness some terrific offense from the backend.
They're horrible, i fail to see how that team makes the playoffs.
Honestly, I haven't seen them play. I've been only following the AHL. But from what I hear, Rielly awesome. That's why I'd like to see him play for the Marlies.

Thanks. Didn't know about Toninato going college, and I thought Crescenzi was injured.
But with Biggs, he can play wing, and has the size and skill to play in the AHL now. He's going PPG, which is the same pace McKegg, Ryan and Scott all went in their last year in the CHL, and he's doing it with out having multiple years of CHL experience. Plus he's noticeable stronger than all of them. So I thinking stepping onto the 1st line with a vet and a skilled player is fine. Especially with Eakins who roles 3-4 lines each game.
With Leivo, if you've shown you can dominate at one stage you've earned a chance to show if you can move on to the next stage. Do years of PPG hockey in the OHL, he has nothing left to prove in the OHL and it doesn't make sense for him to stay there for another year, especially since he'd be going into his 4th OHL season.
Broll is in his 4th year in the OHL. He's proven he's not a scorer and that if he's going to have a hockey career it's as a 4th liner. I don't think you keep a guy in the OHL to develop as a physical intimdating guy. His type of player will gain a lot more from playing with players his own size or bigger.
Yeah, agree with Percy/Granberg. Thanks for clarification on Gysbers, I thought he was a "free wallet" prospect signing like Bozak/Hanson/Gusty etc
Rielly has an outside chance to play in the NHL, not an outside chance to play in the AHL.

That he's seen is what he said, I would imagine that Cherry hasn't seen any more ahl games than we have on TV.

Abbotsford can't match the Marlies talent not even close, but goaltending and hard work can compensate.
Giants and Ice are both really bad this year (they have 12 and 15 pts less than MJW), so imo those are the two safest picks.
While MJW are tied for 2nd in their division, and tied for 6th in their conference.
They'll make the PO's
16/22. You're confusing the WHL with the QMJHL. 8/12 make it in the Eastern Conference.
You're right though. Moose Jaw's bad, but probably not bad enough to miss the playoffs. However, they'd more than likely get eliminated in the 1st round. I can't see them beating Edmonton, Calgary, or Prince Albert in a 7 game series.

Haha thanks. I should of checked number of teams in the WHL.
I just counted as many teams as I could remember, 17, then rounded it up by 1.
