Are you trying to turn this into "my team's name makes more sense than your team" discussion?
No, I was having fun with the back and forth.

Are you that defensive?
By having a rational (albeit senseless) debate I'm defensive? Okay .
It's not like I took a list of teams that rival mine and called their logos cartoonish and said they lack creativity.....

San Jose Sharks
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
Arizona Diamondbacks
Colorado Rockies - meh, not original since that moniker was already used by the hockey team.
I guess the other teams did a good job avoiding any animal moniker (Senators, Lightning, Thrashers, Wild). Wild are arguable, though. Colorado Avalanche - though a relocation, I guess they still had to change their name. They could've easily used any animal.

Holy ****, you ARE defensive. You came in here trying to defend the Sharks moniker. I listed the teams that were founded in the 90s from all four major leagues and two of them happen to be my hockey team's rivals. How could you blame me for that? I had no intention whatsoever to single out the Sharks or the Ducks. Don't try to act rational now when you had to mention the Kings in order to make a point about your beloved Sharks. All I said was that most expansion teams in the 90s took animal monikers. And they were cartoonish. Plus, teal = screams 90s. Why even deny that? The Kings did choose that route in the 90s, too. They made a Burger King logo, FFS. See, I can admit that. BTW, if you really think sharks represent the city of San Jose in any way, shape, or form, I'd like to know if there are available beachfront houses up there.

I thought they were going to affiliate somewhat with the Pelicans in the Sm-Liiga in Finland: after all, both are historically lousy teams haha
I have no problems at all with a franchise named Pelicans (heck, my favourite team is Anaheim so...) and I'd be all for giving back the name "Hornets" where it belongs: Charlotte.

The name Texans was better than the other options they had.
Speaking of, according to Wiki, Miami Heat beat out the name Miami Vice, lord thank goodness. Heat was also apparently an option for Orlando as was the Juice (lolz). TWolves other option was Polars
I'm not going to lie. Orlando Heat flows really well!
The logo's nice, but I feel like the unis will end up looking too much like the LeBron era Cavs.
I really like the Fleur De Lis logo. I was a big fan of the old Hornets version of it too.
Also blue and red is almost as played out as Baby Blue and Navy*. They shoulda went with Mardi Gras colors or something similar. I hope they use blue as the main color with gold as the secondary and only use red as an accent color. Otherwise they might look too much like the Wizards or aforementioned LeBron Cavs.
*(I used to love that color scheme until it was over used in every sport. Devil Rays, Pens Throwbacks x2,the it's-not-even-part-of-our-color-scheme Panthers and Jackets 3rds and the Jets.)
EDIT: Seen this on twitter. New logo in Hornets colors. I think this looks better:

In other news Mark Stein reported on twitter that Jordan, the Bobcats brass and the NBA have been in contact about the possibility of the Bobcats becoming the Charlotte Hornets.
Please happen.
I always loved the Charlotte Hornets, unis, gear and colors as a kid. The Purple and Teal with just that little touch of orange for the basketball. When they moved to New Orleans purple was relegated to an accent color and they mostly use(d) Teal and Gold.
In semi-related news. I wonder if the Wizards go back to the Bullets soon. I remember reading that Leonsis said he wanted too originally when he changed their uniforms recently but it was a long process (like 3 years of something.) But I don't how true that is anymore, I mean the Pelicans thing happened rather fast and it looks like the Bobcats can switch to the Hornets right away too, if they wanted, and they just changed their unis this summer.
I actually kind of like the bird-de-lis, but not so much for everything else.
But, on a side note, at least there's one more counterexample I can bring up whenever someone tries to idiotically make the claim that the Cubs are the least intimidating team name in sports, along with the two Stockings.

I'd love for the Hornets to come back to CHA. Very fond memories as a kid. Their court was and is one of my all time favorites.
And as far as the Wizards go, their old blue/teal uni's were sooo much better than the ones they wear now. I get the whole Red, White & Blue thing, but I don't think they look as good. I also hope they leave the name as the Wizards. Bullets is kind of bad, especially with the whole Arenas//Crittenton thing still fresh in every ones mind. And beyond that, it's always been a dream of mine to one year have the NBA Finals be between Washington & Golden State, cause if that happened, it'd be...
