I listened to the prank call...I think the radio jockeys were truly ignorant to what they may be doing but in any event now a woman is dead after doing dutifully what she thought was her job. What a horrible turn of events. She sounded so sincere on the phone and that she was just trying to help the queen get the necessary information instead of making the queen go through all sorts of vetting procedures.
It's a sad turn of events, but people are jumping to conclusions far to early about this, and just looking to start the blame game without any real facts coming out yet, for all we know she was suicidal to even before this. Hell I saw people saying the radio station should of known she would of killed herself because of this ffs...
I bet a lot of the people condemning it were saying how hilarious it was a day or two ago, how things change.
Either way, it's sad, but I would have to think there are more underlying issues that she was having then just being prank called like that.
Sad. But what a stupid reason to commit suicide. She must have had some pretty severe mental issues already.
Or maybe she's just suffering the shame of disgracing the queen and the integrity of the most important hospital in London? Maybe not grounds for you to commit suicide but some people take their job that serious.

She was probably told that she was no longer trusted, she would be subject to discipline (possible dismissal) and would be lucky to get a job in a other hospital.
She violated the confidentiality of a high profile patient. The hospital is saying they were helping her cope, but I don't buy it. They're way too fond of the blame game in Britain for them to have 'helped'.

I'm pretty sure it said in the article she was the one who originally answered the phone, and then passed them on to the specific ward, so she wasn't the one who revealed the information

Pretty much how I see it.

I'm guessing she may have had to verify the caller's ID before passing them along to the ward that the Duchess was hospitalized in?

Wow, that took an unexpected turn..the radio hosts must feel awful right now. I feel quite bad for them, a little joke turns into this and now they will have to live with it for the rest of their lives.
Very sad, but anyone blaming the DJs have to be kidding themselves. No way that this would in any way be a foreseeable outcome of a prank call like that.
It's one thing when they do something stupid and put someone's life in direct risk, like those radio jocks that got canned for following the "hold your wee for a Wii" contest a few years back because they somehow never heard about water intoxication before and even though they were repeatedly called by at least one nurse telling them about the dangers of what they were doing. Not so much for just a prank call that wasn't threatening an attack or harassment.
