To bad we couldn't expand a deal to encompass more players such as.

Buerhle (Mets can afford him)
Jenkins (JP's last 1st rounder and filler #5 pitcher)
Arencibia
Gose

for

Niese
Dickey

I would feel much better moving Gose if we got a long term piece like Niese to help absorb the hit.

What is the tangible difference between 2 seasons in a row starting from his rookie year, and 5 in a row?

Just a Q...

If Olt is on the table and the Rangers are still looking for a Catcher.

Would you guys consider a JPA for Olt deal?

Aside from the obvious potential with the bat apparently he's got a versatile glove, can pay both corners and rf.

IIRC, Roy Halladay was one of the pitchers the article about whom that article was written.

Yes. Olt can become a 1B with us.

I'm gonna say it's about 3 additional seasons worth of measurable performance.

I'd rather just trade for Niese, keep Beurhle and Gose on the Jay, make it Jenkins + Arencibia + Cecil or Happ?

Doesn't matter who beat them. Seattle lost to the Yankees in 2001 when they set the AL record for wins in a season, but are you going to tell me that they didn't have an elite core?

Halladay-Lee-Hamels > Kershaw-Greinke-Beckett/Billingsley
Howard = Gonzalez (both have regressed, but if Howard didn't have injuries I'd still say he's better offensively, especially in terms of power)
Utley > Ramirez
Kemp > Victorino

Dodgers are trying to buy a world series, and in my eyes, I still don't have them pegged ahead of San Fran in the west.

JPA plus Rasmus for Dickey
i didnt mean thats what i would offer

I cant figure why Ken Rosenthal didnt think of it
1st he suggested - JPA and Gose - thinking AA would say no way
2nd he suggested just JPA - thinking the Mets want more
then wouldnt JPA and Rasmus be a 3rd idea for Ken Rosenthal?

seems alot to give for a 38 yr old
but this is Ken Rosenthal's idea more so that AA's
who already has mentioned the team is maxed out in payroll at 120 million

Back end of the Bullpen reamains a Concern

Think it would be foolish to go into the season with Janssen and Santos as the set up and closer. Too much of a risk their Health and Experience are big guestion marks.

I'd like to keep Buerhle come hell or high water. This rotation really needs a guy like him.

Basic premise being we free up Buerhle's money in year 2 and 3 while being able to obtain a longer term #3-4 pitcher in Niese. Having said that I still wouldn't do it because Gose is going to be a force.

Delabar, Santos, Janssen and Rogers aren't good enough for you?

If we were to include Gose in a package for Dickey, I'd be sure to put Buck in rather than JP.

Agree with everything except Howard = Gonzalez. Gonzalez is MUCH better overall than Howard.

I think Delabar should be the closer. Seems like the logical spot for a flame throwing strike out pitcher.

I can't see any GM moving more than 1 of
JP, Gose, Sanchez, etc
for Dicky alone
The Mets are shooting for the stars
I have a feeling they're simply going to re-sign him

I'd trade Arencibia for Dickey but not a top prospect along with him. Maybe a borderline B level prospect.

No way Gose goes along with Arencibia.

Nothing with the Jays is ever good enough for FreeBird.

We could win the World Series in a sweep and he'd complain that we didn't win it in 3.

Well as of now, sure, but that's not saying much.

For as awful as Howard was in terms of discipline, he still managed to put up a great OBP. When healthy, he probably displays the most power out of any player in the bigs. What AGonz has going for him is his defence at first and his discipline, but when he's having trouble getting over .800 OPS, I'd rather not have him.

And I didn't even mention Jimmy Rollins because he is way better than Dee Gordon or whoever they trot out at short.
