Just watching the SJ AVS series on the NHL network. Can't believe how well he played. Not only showcased his defensive talent but he created some chances. Even back than he was dominant defensively.

And hes only 20 freakin years old. Imagine a primed ROR. He could be Rod Brind'Amour good

I think it would have been great for ROR to skate a hole year on the larger eropean ice size.
Could improve his skating and creativity skills in that competitive league.
Let him finish the season in Magnita, then have him back for the rest of your regular season.

He doesn't need to improve his skating or creativity. We want and need him back NOW.

this game was, and I don't think it's particularly close, the best game Colorado has played since the lockout.

To be honest the Avs didn't play that well that game. They were completely dominated the whole entire game. They could've easily lost something like 4-0 if it wasn't for Anderson.

Still in Russia. He has a contract with Magnitogorsk but doesn't have one with the Avs so I don't think he could leave right now even if he wanted to. He can leave Russia if he gets a better offer from the Avs but the Avs can't offer him that contract until the CBA is finalized.

Thanks, how might this effect Duchene is ROR can't/won't come back for awhile? Who would likely center Landeskog? Stastny?

how could you say that game was well played? they were 100% dominated the entire length until a fluke goal happened in.

i would say it was the best goaltending performance in colorado since the lockout, but thats it.

Duchene would be the more likely option. Stastny has McGinn and Jones. Lando-Duchene-PaP

Really have no idea. I think O'Reilly will be back before the 19th but if he isn't, then I would guess Landeskog would play with Duchene. The McGinn-Stastny-Jones line was on fire after the trade with San Jose so I think Sacco will keep them together. If it were up to me, I would have Landeskog on a line with Duchene and Parenteau even if O'Reilly hops on the first flight to Denver.

Our team is average at best (yet building) WITH O'Reilly in it. Without O'Reilly, we are a complete basket case.

I expect a major chain reaction to ensue if O'Reilly never comes back.
-Duchene's lack of hockey sense leads him into a career of ice fishing.
-Stastny gets traded to Toronto.
-Varly gets his mandatory groin injury, then heads to Russia.
-EJ is in fact on the same level as Daigle and Stefan, as other fans have lead us to believe.
-Landeskog is in fact a 3rd line grinder.
-Downie's arm falls off from poor shoulder surgery.
-Jones proves he is actually the worst contract in the NHL.
-PAP was in fact a product of Tavares. Turns out he is slower than Andrew Brunette.
-Kroenke is extremely pleased with the events because the Avs are now left scraping the bottom of the cap floor, which has been his plan since he bought the team 12 years ago.
All while every other team in the West faces no issues at all.

Yeah, this team is screwed.

To those of us that have carefully watched him, he's always shown more offensive potential than he got credit for. I remember saying his sophomore season that once O'Reilly could get his slap shot more accurate, he'd pot 20 goals a year.

Well next season what happens? Puts up almost 20 goals and he starts unleashing some deadly shots. That Carolina OT winner was pure money for a 20 year old.

Do people here think O'Reilly would hit 50 points without Landeskog?

Yes, Downie can actually score as well. I think Downie showed some untapped offensive potential after he was traded.

What I would like to see someday soon is :

1A - Landeskog - Duchene - Parenteau

1B - McGinn - Stastny - Jones (I'd like to see Jones upgraded at some point as well but that's another convo, and we pretty much have to see if he can get closer to 30 than 20 given consistent time in the top 6.)

1C - Sgarbossa - O'Reilly - Downie

When Sgarbossa is ready (Especially now) they should start him out with our best defensive center just like they did with (IMO) Landeskog. O'Reilly's ability to create space will give Sgar a better shot at creating offense, and Sgar will give O'Reilly a dynamic scorer to create plays with. Each one of these lines would give us multiple scoring threats on each line and each would have forwards who can forecheck and play will defensively.

That's of course IF/when Boss is ready or can stick... (Maybe after Hejduk retires or if he does not re-surge this year.)

With our winger depth I think he could, put him with Downie and Hejduk or McGinn and 50+ is still absolutely reasonable.

Maybe Putin will offer O'Reilly the 30m to stay that he offered the big 4 Russians.

ESPN - Top 10 breakout players in 2013 (O'Reilly)

http://insider.espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8827590/Top 10 Breakout Players

Quote:
Ryan O'Reilly, Colorado Avalanche

The 21-year-old center led the Avs in scoring with 55 points (18 goals and 37 assists) last year but enjoyed little puck luck throughout the season. During even-strength, O'Reilly and his linemates shot a below-average 6.5 percent from the ice but posted a hefty puck-possession number (12.4 Corsi relative to his teammates) indicating that they should not only have the puck a ton, but should see more of their shots lighting the lamp in 2013, which means a 40-point season for O'Reilly in the 2013 shortened season.

O'Reilly picked up a pretty assist today against CSKA. He scored in his first shootout attempt but then missed his second and CSKA won 3-2.
