What? There are two parties involved, if ROR ends up as not a member of the Avalanche he'll be equally to blame. The Avs managed to re-sign EJ. Duchene, and all those other RFA's to very reasonable deals, if ROR doesn't want something reasonable than it's his fault.

Ryan is the one who went to Russia and signed a contract over two years. Not exactly a move that helps.

Would be ridiculous to just blame the Avs for this situation.

Zero rumours about what kind of money he is asking for?

They agreed to postpone negotiations because they weren't close to a deal. They were negotiating from July to August/September and couldn't get anything done. Sure it's only been 14 hours since they've been allowed to officially sign players but McKenzie and LeBrun said teams have been negotiating with players for a couple of days now.

To me, if training camp has started and one player isn't there because of a contract issue, then he's in a contract dispute with the team.

Some say between 3-4m, which seems reasonable.

The reactions in here make me lawl. He'll be signed, and if not he will bring a solid return.

That's what I thought, and then Kyper had this tweet recently

Quote:

Ryan O'Reilly contract talks with #Aves ongoing while he remains in Russia. Same ballpark with Benn, Subban seeking 5M per on long term deal
So I asked him to clarify if he meant that O'Reilly was also seeking a deal that was
5M per year on a long term deal, or if that was just Subban...I've not heard anything back as of now.

Exactly. I love ROR on the team, but if the Avs end up trading him they are going to get a fantastic return.

Damn maybe slip and fall Quincey was right about this organization.

"Aves" is bad enough. Same ballpark with guys demanding 5M per year better be BS as well.

Yep, should be a tad less than Pittsburgh got for Staal.

I don't think O'Reilly is that far behind Benn but he needs to do it for more than one season. He won't get $5M per season.

Anything north of $4 million long term would be unreasonable IMO. If he is seeking $5 million long term, he may have bad representation or he and his family are not grounded in reality.

I don't think the Avs will pay him more than Matt Duchene and Erik Johnson. Based on statistical production, I am not sure what his argument would be for an annual salary higher than Duchene. I think the MDZ contract hurts O'Reilly's leverage. MDZ is only a year older than O'Reilly and he has put up two 40 point seasons as a defenseman. MDZ will only receive $2.55 annually.

MDZ is also represented by the same firm.

I don't think O'Reilly and Benn are comparable.

Isn't MDZ represented by the same agency as Radar.

I'll bet the farm that ROR will get more then MDZ its prolly term thats keeping the two sides apart. ROR prolly wants 5 Avs want 3-4 yrs at most.

Kypreos said he's looking for around 5 million like subban and benn on a long term deal

welp, I don't see that happening. That would move him above Duchene on the depth chart simply based on salary and that can't happen.

4.5 over two, 4.25 over three or 4 over five, would not do more than that or longer term than that.

If ROR is wanting 5m after one 55 point season, it is time to ship him out for a young top pairing potential D man. Duchene had a 55 point rookie season followed up by a 67 point season and he signed a reasonable deal.

In essence if that is the case ROR is making the center decision easy. Writing was on the wall that after next season 1 of the 3 were gone.

If it is true, then he can take a hike and i hope he gets traded. Thats way too much for a guy who has only had one good offensive season. If he really thinks thats what hes worth, he should sign a 3 year deal for 3.5-4m and than cash in even more than 5 million after that.

If O'Reilly seriously signed for two years in Russia and is sitting there asking for $5.0M for the exact number of years to make him a UFA when it expires.... I dont know. But I would lose some respect for him.

But it's important to remember how little we actually know about this. Not much info has leaked out.
