One name: David Jones

If he's worth 4M each, Duchene, ROR, Landy, Johnson, etc etc is worth it. and fyi, I ment 4M aav, depends how long the deal is, but 2 X 4 would be fine by me.
Staal had 42, 28 and 49 pts in his 3 first years which isn't far from what ROR had on a much better team.

Anyway, I just want him signed, and ready to go saturday.

He's probably trying to get 250-500k more due to the cap's rise, but Sherman would never support signing a guy right up to his UFA years, which I would agree with. It's irresponsible as a GM to allow that.

UFA's and RFA's are two different animals.

Where's TPS he can make sense of all this. Remember how Avs management and ROR were "in love" with each other

With more and more RFAs signing second contracts that eat up a few UFA years, the difference is smaller than ever.

Yeah I don't care for what Ray Ferraro says, you can tell that piece of **** hates the Avs whenever he commentates or even talks about the Avs.

I was kind of under this same impression. I figured it was in my head though because O'Reilly was picked right after his son, and has had a much greater career to date.

The thing is, I don't know how we can take anything serious from anyone outside of the organization. Colorado isn't exactly known to be just leaking information about negotiations on anything. It's why we're always caught off guard when someone gets traded or signed to a contract. We're not an organization like the Leafs where everything is out in the open, this is the Avalanche who won't tell you anything until the paperwork has been done for a few hours. Even the guy that runs the twitter account for the Avs doesn't know what goes on (Carkner non-signing). Any speculation or rumors is just that.

Maybe O'Reilly's agent or O'Reilly himself is leaking info.

A lot of fans like to play the "this announcer/analyst hates my team" card whenever they say anything negative but in this case I think it's actually true. Ray Ferraro has had a stick up his ass ever since the Avs fired his brother in law (Granato).

I think we're reading into this a bit too much and I honestly believe Ferraro knows mothing about the situation, just acting what he thinks is going on.

Anything can happen, but I would be surprised if he isn't in an Avs sweater by Saturday. I think Avs consider him to be a very important piece to this team.

Also there are countless 2nd line centres around the league that are available.

Oh I fully expect him to be in an Avs jersey on Saturday, but I don't expect to see him still here in October.

How so? Why would Avs sign him then trade him in the offseason?
