I'm almost certain it's half the $ value with twice as many years.
So if a guy is making
2 mil for 4 years it would be
1 mil -8 years to buy him out.

I believe the schedule was 6pm ET and midnight for the sims during this re-sign phase. Not sure what's going on after this phase.
Depending on when you leave, you should at least get the 6pm and 12am sims to do some more signing.
