Glad to read that Hamrlik's still interested in the extension.
I'd like to see the isles lock Hamrlik and Niinimaa into longterm deals.

Does anyone else think that keeping the top four d-men for the next few yrs will mean having to move Peca?

Yashin-$8+m in 2003-04,then $10m a yr for the next 4 yrs.
Peca-$4.2m a yr for the next 2 yrs, then $5m in his last yr.

Hamrlik-$3.6m in 2003-04.Arbitration eligible next summer.
Aucoin-$3.2m in 2003-04
Jonsson-signed a 2 yr/$6m deal this summer
Niinimaa-$2.9m in 2003-04

I personally doubt that. There is alot of options for this teams future and a million things could happen to change the horizon of what needs to be done to retain the 4 dmen. Peca is making 4. whatever, but there are other players that can be moved of "sacrificed" to keep the d intact. Different combos of players etc. Thats one reason it is great to have so many talented rookies waiting for a spot in the line up. I personally hope to see this defense intact for a few years, regardless of CBA
