How would Canada U20 do against a bottom NHL team?
People saying that the juniors would get demolished physically keep in mind that the game would be played under international rules
Any sort of dirty hit or fight would result in an immediate misconduct for any player
So what I was getting at is that most of those guys wouldn't be able to completely play their games and it could end up deterring them from being effective on the ice
I realize that under NHL rules the junior team wouldn't make it out of the 1st period but with international rules potentially getting these guys out of their comfort zones I think the junior team's speed and skill would be enough to at least make it close and possibly even pull out a victory
International rules do not mean you cannot deliver hard, heavy, bone rattling hits. Charging and hitting the head area are called more frequently. Also, I wouldn't put it past that team to use thug tactics to scare the living bleep out of those kids, and just kill off a few penalties. They would be scared to go in the corners before the first period was over. International refereeing didn't help Kharlamov from a thug like Clarke.
Every nhl player would make there country if they were trying out. The one and only nhl player is going to be the best player in the tourny, does that say anything to u?
The best AHL team would win some games in the NHL, they are pro hockey players. They would finish last, but they wouldn't go anything close to 0-82. I'd bet they'd get close to 20 wins. When the Oilers had the 500+ man games lost to injury season, and were calling up junior players to play defence, they won a few games. Mind you they also lost like 20 in a row, but that team was probably worse than the best AHL team after all their injuries.
Junior team would get crushed by any AHL team let alone NHL team. OKC has a bunch of guys who played in the WJC fairly recently, and they're not looking that great.
Ignoring the huge difference in size and strength, imagine the gap in goaltending. An 18-year old goaltender is gonna get eaten alive by NHL players. O_o
what about Steve Mason a few years ago as a goaltender he jumped right into the NHL from the Kitchener Rangers to the Columbus Blue Jackets in his 1st year 2008-2009 his stats were 2008-09 61 GP 33 wins 20 losses and a save percentage .916 so don,t give me the crap that top juniors would give a last place NHL team a good run same as Taylor Hall he jumped into the NHL from junior and is doing well same as John Tavares and on and on so there is nothing at all stupid about this thread

Well, the expansion Senators went 10–70–4, and that was pretty much an AHL team.

Yeah, Taylor Hall has really led the Oilers far...

This is honestly the worst thread ever. How is it even a legitimate question?
If you have to ask you need to watch more hockey.
Yeah, this is a ridiculous question. Bear in mind, that they lose to Canadian University teams (like today) every so often. You could see the speed and power difference against the University of Alberta. Just imagine what they'd look like against an NHL team.
LOL that some people think the junior team would stand a chance against any NHL team. The poorest NHL team would win by 10 goals. The juniors would be absolutely crushed. I think the juniors would lose to a good CIS team, if the result mattered. The Bears beat them today missing a couple of key players.
The list of players that didn't play against the UofA was like a who's who of Team Canada: Nugent-Hopkins, Scheifele and Huberdeau, Dougie Hamilton, Morgan Rielly, Scott Harrington, Strome, Philip Danault, Boone Jenner, Charles Hudon, Brett Ritchie, Xavier Ouellet. Basically everyone that was guaranteed a spot on the team (Ouellet was out due to injury).
You can't draw any conclusions out the result when it comes to CIS teams.

Steve Mason didn't have junior defencemen in front of him.
