Watched the recording of the first period of that Maple grove game earlier this year and Hurley dominated point wise (had a few quiet shifts) but MG was absolutely horrid, aka how they are in most years. They sucked in state last year and lost like 8 seniors including their goalie and it was quite apparent. Anyways it was interesting seeing some familiar family names from when I played, and the Edina team looks pretty solid this year. Definitely going to that December 22nd game against EP at the Schwan's cup, but no other games on their schedule look too interesting and EP has a weak team this year IMO.

The full game is up at http://mnhockeycenter.com/view/mbhsh...ol-hockey-news if anyone is interested. Also if this is your first time seeing a MN high school game please don't think that all games are this poor, outside of a few powerhouses most teams go through talent cycles and MG has never been considered a strong youth team.

Who has this kids WHL rights??? I always hold out hope that these talented US kids come north to play in the Dub rather than playing USHL then NCAA. Committed to Notre Dame for 2014-15. His brother is playing at Muskegon, but you know, let me dream .

Here is our profile and scouting report on him at FC Hockey: http://futureconsiderations.ca/playe...Connor-Hurley/

Seems pretty odd for a local MN boy to choose ND over Minnesota.

I think Prince George has his WHL rights.

Most players from Edina head east. It's a wealthy suburb and the players and their parents seem to enjoy the "prestige" associated with eastern schools.

Gonna bump this.

This seems like a shame, kid would be a 1st rounder in any other draft it seems because I haven't seen him in many 1st round mocks. Considering this one is so deep, a lot of teams might pass over the high school kids.

I think most people just don't know who he is... and it's a shame, because he's going to be a steal for someone. It's also not helping that he's playing high school hockey and not in the CHL/USHL (he played 11 games with Muskegon)... so he isn't as exposed. Sure, scouts DO attend high school games, but certainly not to the extent of CHL/USHL.. and it's understandable.

That being said, I am super high on this kid. He is so talented and has such a will to be the best player he can be... captain material for sure. He'll do exactly what he needs to in order to make it.

Who's a good NHL comparison for this kid?

T.J Oshie?

And I've seen him listed as both a centre and wing, which is it?

He can play both, but he's primarily a center. As for comparison, I have no idea..

Surprisingly considering my location I actually have over 6 live viewings of this kid.

It is unfortunate he is not getting the credit he deserves, he is talented with size and understands the game well. He works very hard however I don't think he's a Top 30 in this draft, although part of that is beyond his control due to the talent pool available this year. There will be several very solid second round picks that will be made at the draft because of this and Hurley is very high on the list. A good kid who understands himself as a player is a bonus as well.
