Look at it from Warren's personal perspective - Kerby goes in the first round vs second round (or later) it's millions of dollars difference for his son in his first contract.

Yep, seems like the most likely motive for Warren's actions.

There have been a couple of good deals go down today and maybe we can snag a couple of left overs but then again maybe not.

Perhaps I'm just a wee bit impatient. Probably someone will call up and offer us the deal of a lifetime............................
Im sure Warren has reached out to those kids. MAybe jsut not a good fit for them at this time. Its cyclical for sure. Sometimes you get 3-4 in a couple years and sometimes none for a couple years.
As far as Koko Id a thought it was pre arrange to trade him but maybe his condition was only as a Spit? I dunno but I really think his value to the team is higher if flipped than if playing out the year.
Still think theyll move a couple more bodies, if possible

That's a fairly cheap price for a PPG player, but why do the Spits even need Aleardi? Are they trying to make a run this year (getting an OA, keeping KoKo).

I like the Aleardi for Lorentz trade because Zach wasn't OA caliber for a Mem Cup team anyways, and this trade improves us for this year. Plymouth makes this trade because of Heard coming back to them, and they want to do right by Aleardi and keep him in the area for his last 30 games in the OHL - he's also from Farmington Hills.

Aleardi could play a top six role for us and has more offensive upside.

Perhaps a vet presence but I doubt he gets moved, it would use a card to do so.
As the trade is has just been announced , perhaps we get a pick as well. One can hope.
He did score 36 goals last year and Lorentz hasn't done much.

Like I said when Lorentz was traded here he's one of the softest players in the league, and I hated him before the trade and when he was traded here people were saying take it easy on him...well he is pathetic and it's a great trade this trade does help next season just because he's not on the team it makes them a lot better... and this is probably the only trade he will do before the deadline there set up for a good long run now....

I doubt you get apick as well.

It is an improvement to the current roster thou. A real burner.

If you know it so does everyone else. Tough sell, but maybe he can grab an underacheiving body back and hope, or mid to late picks at best

I dont think he gets moved, just a clarifiaction if he were traded prior to playing i game the A card would not count, like the Pavelka deal spits did not sign him to a card for a few days after watching him in practice
Interesting stat on Aleardi of his 15 goals scored this year 13 were scored at even strength the most of any whalers this year
And we all know the spits need to score more 5 on 5

Agree a nice upgrade on the cheap does not help for next year but neither would Lorentz staying.

Still a no brainer to deal Koko ... value of a couple assets moving forward > him playing out the season here.

Not a bad move if this team was contending gain an OA for this year but lose one for next year. Knights get Stolarz. Rychel is in a race with Hunter and is getting lapped.

Have a winning team, and reap the rewards. Hunter builds this year without hurting next year ie didn't have to trade away Herbst. He has the connections (and likely understanding of Omerta, unlike whoever sang on the Spits and Rychel not being safe enough with his off-the-record dealings),

Gotta feel bad for Lorentz though, as this is his fourth team now in a year.

Both players acquired by OS are 93"s, London"s are 94"s in Mermis and Stolarz

Like OS,Koko and Aleardi are vets who can play

Hunter may still deal Herbst as Patterson and Stolarz are both 94 born

As well they have 95 born Wheaton and 2 others drafted in the 2012 draft
