Darnell Dockett fined $100,000+ for spitting at player, plans to appeal

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/87...cording-source

Quote:
Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett has been fined a "six-figures" amount for an on-field incident in which he allegedly spit at teammate Kerry Rhodes, a source told ESPN.

Sources told ESPN that Dockett is appealing the fine. Rhodes denied that Dockett spit, and Dockett has since apologized.

This is a fine by the team and not the NFL

Quote:
The Cardinals have fined defensive end Darnell Dockett just more than $100,000 for his role in an argument with teammate Kerry Rhodes last week against the Jets.

Spitting is someone's face is disgusting and very disrespectful but $100K+ for that? That's crazy.

The reason for the high fine in this case would be because spitting on someone along with what you mentioned is also by public law considered assault.

Well, there are a lot of things that happen on the football field that would be considered assault..

But most of them are in agreement of every party involved. Spitting isn't really in that category.

According to the Arizona Republic, this a fine by the Cardinals Organization and not the NFL.

Albert Breer says it's a $200K fine. Ridiculous.

Thank God for the @nflpa that's all I got to say... "I ain't got no worries"

One report says $100,000 and another report says $200,000. Who is telling the truth?
