Hampus also had two assists. Not a bad night for the kids.

Maroon certainly isn't sulking since his demotion either.

I have no doubt that he'll be back soon. I suspect part of his demotion was needing to give McMillan a fair shake when they decided to call him up.

Exit - Can you give me a breif update on DSP? Has he looked any better since his demotion, or is he still playing like he did during the lockout and with the big club?

Thanks in advance

From the few games I've seen since our season began, better but not by a significant margin. Michaud said something about him looking much better since his return.

Vatanen seems to be building up to something as well, at least from the stats. Points in 6 straight and 10 of 13 (1+13).

i think the more important question for vatanen is how does he look defensively now

Well to be honest this is the first month he seems to be building up to anything. Let's see if this lasts until the end of the season. But even if it did, it won't change the fact that he struggled to translate his game to the AHL. Many europeans do, it's just the fact that Vatanen wasn't your average european that made me hope he could just come over and play his game. Not only he failed in that, he looked just lost at the first half of the season. From the best D in FEL to a fringe OFD in AHL. That is the reason of my disappointment in his season so far.

To the question above, from the games I have gotten to watch (thank you AHL-live for the few that actually worked) his +/- stats actually are quite in line with his actual play. He isn't bad defensively, he makes the right plays more often than at the start of the season. I haven't watched the last four games though, but I would think that he isn't any more dominant in the D-zone than before. First and foremost he is an OFD, he won't be your stay-at-home D ever. If he isn't contributing offensively he isn't contributing. This year in the games I have seen he hasn't contributed towards losses either but he hasn't saved many games with his defensive play.

That part isn't true. It wasn't even true when he was in Anaheim. His defensive game needs work but he isn't an empty sweater in the defensive zone. He just needs to learn how to play his way around the size disparity and work his way past the occasional rookie mistakes. He didn't come here as a finished product, but there's potential there at both ends of the ice. His ceiling on defense just doesn't appear to be what Hampus's is.

I didn't mean it's like there are only four guys on ice. I ment he can be easily replaced for a guy like Jordan Hendry or some other career AHLer.

But anyway this month has started well for Vatanen. 7points in 4 games with a +6 rating (at least a point in all four games). If he keeps this up for a full season next year I will be fine with him.

I'm pretty sure he isn't 1.75 ppg player next year. I think what Schultz had this year, 1.4 ppg, is his absolute max in a full season.

I wouldn't be worried about Vatanen's offensive game. That's what he has going for him.

Andersen has been incredible. Only Holtby and Lehner have better SV% pretty elite company. And it sounds like Vatanen has really gotten confident in the AHL.

We should recall Maroon again, and send McMillan down. Dude is beasting down in Norfolk right now. Scored another 2 goals.

Granted, one of those goals was an empty netter. I was at the game last night, had a blast. Maroon, Vatanen, Lindholm, and Smith Pelley all had great games. DSP seemed to get better as the night went on.

Norfolk is only 3 points out of a playoff spot. They're doing the typical late season surge that our AHL team has done the past couple of years.

Hmmm not quite sure I want to call up Maroon anymore. They're gonna need him.

When is the deadline where Maroon has to go through re-entry waivers again? Is it 30 days from when he went through waivers the first time? Or it requires 30 days actually on the NHL squad?

I thought re-entry waivers no longer exist under the new CBA.

The half salary punishment is what, I believe, no longer exists.

Sounds good but it will never happen. What is really hurting the Admirals due to call-ups is lack of depth. Ducks management needs to address this for next year.

Most ADS fan don't mind call ups if the player is getting ice time. One thing that will pi$$ us off is calling up player and sitting them in the press box.

That trade of Sexton for Wilson was a good one.
