Prime, injury free Eric Lindros is one of the best players ever to start a franchise around.

And what's the deal with the 3rd option?

I'd take an injury free Lindros in a heartbeat. The only thing I would worry about is how his game would translate in today's era. Her was a mean SOB, that would certainly be looking at a Torres long list of suspensions.

This isn't fair. Not only are they different positions, Lindros is one of the top 10 forwards I have ever seen, maybe even top 5. His peak was better than what we have seen from Crosby so far. Of course the answer is Lindros, but the answer is the same for any player in the league today.

As a Bruin fan its easily Lindros. In his prime he was one of the most dominant players ever.

Are we taking into account what happened as their primes started to dwindle down? Because while technically Chara is past normal prime years for players, he's still playing at an elite level and considered to be in the top three for his position. Lindros post prime was a shell due to the concussions and injuries.

Lindros for just the prime years alone.

Chara for the longevity and being elite for nearly a decade now.

Then you also have to take into account their leadership abilities. Both were captains, but Chara has been lauded for his leadership skills in Boston. Lindros was not. I think the answer is a lot closer than people think once you start looking at what it really means to build a franchise and who you want to be leading it. When you're looking to build a franchise around a player, you should not only look at their skills as a player but their ability to be a leader of men.

Nah its really not, hes asking who you would want to build a franchise around if you had your pick of the two. Lindros hands down; healthy and in the prime of his career was one of the best players to ever skate on NHL ice. The question for the poll is Prime vs Prime Longevity has nothing to do with that. Leadership is a weak arguement you don't know what goes on behind closed doors

Voted Chara assuming the Lindros I'm getting has all the same injury problems he did in real life. If he's healthy than Lindros by far.

Chara has played at an elite level longer than Lindros has. Lindros obviously had the greater splash in his prime years, but look at what happened when Philly built around him. The fallout was not pretty.

And actually, we do have a pretty good idea what goes on behind closed doors. Chara's the better leader and captain of the two.

Lindros was an elite player his second year in the league. He continued to be such for seven more seasons.

Chara was not an elite player in 2003-04. He was approaching that level, but Lindros was close to elite in his rookie year (but missed 23 games).
