We'll be tracking the performances of the 2013 NHL Draft eligibles in camps leading up to the World Juniors as well as throughout the tournament itself.
For a general 'keep an eye on' type article, our scouting director has put forth (a pre-camp) list of guys he's eager to see:
Quote:
There are a handful of draft eligible prospects that will likely represent their country in Ufa and have a real chance to make the highlight reel over the holiday season. I thought with this month’s ‘Director’s Cut’ I would run though some of the draft eligible names to keep an eye on.
We've also got one of our Western Hockey League scouts attending camp and he came away with this impression of Canada's four draft eligibles fighting for spots in camp.
Quote:
There are a lot of expectations surrounding the potential first overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, and delivering in Team Canada’s opening day of camp was one of them.
The mission should be considered a success for Nathan MacKinnon.
We'll continually update this thread with reports and roster updates so you can keep track of the draft portion of the 2013 World Juniors. Feel free to post in it as well and/or ask questions as we go!

Drouin and MacKinnon will be separated tonight in the game. Drouin will suit up with Monahan, while Shinkaruk and MacKinnon will join Lipon - who is undrafted.
Monahan was the only draft eligible to not survive Canada's first cuts.
Zenon Herasymiuk's reaction:
Quote:
“Being one of the younger players at camp, Monahan looked a bit uneasy throughout,” said Future Considerations scout Zenon Herasymiuk, who was in attendance. “He was solid in his own zone, but was unable to make an impact in the offensive zone. Monahan had a few nice chances that never came to fruition. I don’t think he brought the physical edge Canada was looking for in its bottom-six.”
If age doesn’t get any consideration in Canada’s selection camp for the 2013 World Junior Championship, a youthful presence in Ufa, Russia could be on the way.
And that’s despite a bit of a hiccup from the head of the 2013 NHL Draft class.
Halifax Mooseheads teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin will be joined by undrafted 19-year-old JC Lipon of the Kamloops Blazers as members of the 2013 NHL Draft class to crack Canada’s entry to the World Juniors in Ufa, getting underway on Boxing Day.
If Canada’s selection camp for the World Junior Championship showed one thing, it’s that the kids are alright.
Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin will be joined by undrafted 19-year-old JC Lipon as members of Canada at the World Juniors, the first time Canada will field a roster that includes three draft eligible forwards for the first time in tournament history.
Wennberg is also first-time eligible. Could be the second Swede picked in the draft, leads Djurgården in scoring.
Impressed me at sundsvall and in couple allsvenskan game i've seen off him. He is probably going to be 1st round pick and big riser for the draft. I like him more than De La Rose and maybe even Burakowsky.
Twenty-two members of the 2013 NHL Draft class will have the opportunity to compete at the World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia from December 26th to January 5th.

Jones, who was knocked off the Americans’ roster last year due to a shoulder injury suffered in the team’s last exhibition game, had a goal and an assist in his World Junior debut, a 9-0 rout of Latvia Thursday morning. Teammate Ryan Hartman also had a goal in the effort.

A pair of Swedes collect points in an explosive - yet quiet - Saturday morning.
Quote:
A five-goal explosion from Sweden and a seven-goal outburst from Russia on Day Four of the World Junior Championship yielded little in the way of scoring for members of the 2013 NHL Draft.
A trio of draft eligibles get on the board Sunday, and Dano continues to roll:

Slovakia’s Marko Dano continues to lead scoring among draft eligibles at the World Junior Championship.
With an assist on Peter Ceresnak’s overtime goal to lift Slovakia to a 2-1 over Germany Sunday, Dano has run his totals to two goals and five points in just three games. He’s extended his lead to two over Canadian forward Jonathan Drouin and blueliner Rasmus Ristolainen of Finland and sits tied for third in scoring overall for the tournament behind Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan Strome.
