NFL: Darnell Dockett fined $100,000+ for spitting at player, plans to appeal

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett has been fined a "six-figures" amount for an on-field incident in which he allegedly spit at teammate Kerry Rhodes, a source told ESPN.

Sources told ESPN that Dockett is appealing the fine. Rhodes denied that Dockett spit, and Dockett has since apologized.

The reason for the high fine in this case would be because spitting on someone along with what you mentioned is also by public law considered assault.

According to the Arizona Republic, this a fine by the Cardinals Organization and not the NFL.
