Lupul for his astonishment that Russians speak Russian in Russia.
Evander Kane for not being worth **** on the big ice in Minsk then tweeting pictures of his money after her gets cut.
You've got to admit, money phone? That is hilarious.
I don't see why everyone blames Bettman, it really is Fehr's fault and the player's too. They can't keep their cool in meetings and don't show incentive to get things done as they are mindless sheep to Fehr.
He tells them to reportedly ask for more, they do it. If they really wanted to play hockey they would've done it by now. Max contract length when half of you won't sign for more than a 5/6 year deal in the rest of your career?
Yeah everyone will "dislike" these players until they make a big hit, slick pass, or beautiful snipe.
A ton of people on this forum hate Kesler and the Sedins. Not one of them will question how talented they are. People are capable of differentiating off ice conduct, where the players are comparable to your "avenger joe" and their talent.
How dare players, with potentially millions of dollars of personal income at stake, be emotionally invested in the process? If they would just roll over for the owners I could be watching hockey right now!
They are allowed to be invested. They arent allowed to cry poor one second, and the next post a pic of them holding stacks of $100 bills, or complain about how loud their Ferrari is.
How can you not find this insulting? It would be like me going to a starving African village and complaining about how I can only afford one Big Mac.
I couldn't care less what the players have said... I'm not on their side or anything but they're pissed they're losing money and any human can understand that. Yeah I wish they would just suck it up and say, "You know what, I already make a crap-load more than the average North American, so I should just be grateful and shut my trap," but them NOT saying that doesn't really make me HATE them...
And I find it real tough to believe that a lot of the people on here wouldn't be doing/acting/saying the same things that these players are if they were in their position. Point is, I don't hate someone for acting a certain way when they're in a position that I've never personally been in.
Nothing anyone does or says during this lockout changes my opinion of them. I don't know any of them personally and my only tie to them is the entertainment they provide once they take to the ice. I'm not looking for role models or heroes to worship just to be entertained by the best hockey in the world.
Trevor Linden, Bryan McCabe, Krys Barch, Paul Bissonette...really, too many to remember.
Linden really? The guy who took all the heat from the PA hard liners along with Paul Kelly for getting a deal done last time? Replace Linden with Lindros and that might make sense, although I find this thead to be highly juvenile in the first place.
I can't speak for everyone, but he's a new guy on a young, likeable, cheap in the sense that their contracts aren't being contested way team who's just signed a relatively big contract and he keeps retweeting Allan Walsh and Adam Proteau. It's hard to judge a guy when he's not played for his new team yet but on twitter (where invariable all the hate to players is spawned from) he's easily been the most outspoken of all our players.

The owners want to fix the league so that every teams actually make money.
All the players want is more money...
If the NHL was serious about all teams being profitable, they'd institute more profit-sharing than the current 6 percent (or whatever ridiculous amount it is). And they'd move that giant sucking black hole out of Arizona.
It's simple, as some have already pointed out in this thread. Professional hockey players make good money (as they should, being the world's most highly skilled at a desirable profession), and a significant number of HF posters envy them. Typical HF boards poster says "I love hockey so much, I'd play for (100 bucks per week/minimum wage/free). Those guys don't know how lucky they are."
Hockey players know they make a lot of money. They also know that owners would pay them as little as possible and treat them like absolute dirt if they didn't have a union and a strong CBA (read up on the history of pro sports sometime). They also, starting from the time they first put on skates, work their behinds off for that money. Sure, it's fun, but that doesn't mean it's easy.
The owners don't care about the players, and they sure as hell don't care about the fans. They care about making money. I can't understand how any fan can be delusional enough to believe anything else.
And if anyone forever dislikes a player because he's taking a stand for what he thinks is right, I don't know what to tell you.
