We will let the voters decide, but he arguably out played the top 2 goalies in the East in the playoffs, and he was a former top prospect. It's not like he came out of nowhere. He dominated the AHL when he was a top prospect.

I'm not saying I think Holtby is going to do bad, but that's two playoff series. You can't say he's great off of just that.

2010-2011: 14gp 1.79 GAA .934sv%

2011-2012: 7gp 2.50 GAA .921sv%

2011-2012 playoffs: 7gp 1.95 GAA .935sv%

In 35 career games he has a GAA under 2 and a save percentage over .930%.

I'm not saying he's going to be Pekka Rinne, or Henrik Lundqvist, but at worst he will be solid. He's not going to be a liability like Theodore was with the Caps. And he shouldn't be a reason to vote against me.

No ones saying he does not have talent but just He's unproven. Remember Steve Masons rookie year?

Yes but it's not a given that he will be like that. It doesn't matter if he's not proven yet, every player has to prove themselves, but players like Holtby who have that much talent (and especially goalies) usually are at least decent.

And you could say a goalie like MAF is "proven" but he hasn't had a true good year his last 4 years. To be good, you don't have to be proven. And to be proven, you don't have to be good. There's a difference.

And yeah, 35 games isn't a huge sample size, but to put up numbers like that you have to be incredibly good.

Having taken over a Wings team midseason where the core was drilled out in order to acquire futures, I set about reconstructing a contender without burning down the house. I think my Wings team is a solid, deep team that can make a good push.
