Bummer.
Honestly the comparisons do a disservice to Fata who was at least incredibly productive in junior and spent time in the NHL. Marcantuoni is producing at a slower pace than he did as a 16 year old. That's historically a really bad sign. Granted Kitchener isn't a high scoring team but given this guy's pedigree, his decent underage season, he should be producing more than what he has. There are a lot less touted players, and certainly a lot less talented players in the OHL who have no real NHL future who are far outproducing this guy.

Stranger things have happened, but I'll remain sceptical of any long term upside until he produces in the OHL, if he ever does.

Ouch. That's scathing. And more than a little depressing, honestly... considering he looked to be one of the few forwards floating around in the pipeline with some potential ability.

Regardless, much obliged for the information.

Nebraska-Omaha on NBC Sports Friday. Get a look at Archibald and future prospect Andrej Sustr. Seeing that Sustr was/is a teammate of current prospects like Archibald and Megna, I'd say it's safe to say that he's a lock to sign with the Pens. Pittsburgh area NHL'er Bill Thomas also went to UNO, so Pens pretty much have UNO on lock-down. It'll become the Pens answer to Detroit's Swedish pipeline.

Not sure why you think it's a lock to sign Sustr. Pens are the last team he should sign because of depth for blueliners in our system.

To be honest, that was the impression I got of him the couple of games I saw Kitchener play this year. He really didn't do anything other than show he's a fast skater. Fata, at least at the OHL level, looked like a danger to score when he was on the ice.

I really hope it's just a case of it being an adjustment year for him, where he's trying to learn not to be as reckless -- thus cutting down on injuries -- while still being an effective player.

Depends where they see him fitting in. Who is to say he's not better than some of the guys who are already here? I don't know much about the guy, but I wouldn't be quick to rule the Pens out.

That being said, and I've said back in camp when he was here 2 years ago...no reason for him to sign here, as some team will probably give him an NHL deal. We will not.

Think I should of added the when it comes to Sustr.

I don't see it happening due to the team's current depth but I figured with the team's recent history of acquiring teammates of current prospects and the reference to the vaunted UNO pipeline would of made my intentions a bit more clear.

What are the chances of us drafting Andrighetto this year?

It seems like Sault Sainte Marie is playing much better hockey in the past month or so.. Not only are they getting wins but Murray (and their backup) seem to be seeing significantly less shots of late.

I like him. I'd try to draft him, for sure.

Yeah, that was one of the controversies about him getting the job. He's been owner/head coach of a junior A team in Pembroke the past five or so years, and the team has been quite successful. But the lingering cloud of his association with Frost will likely always follow him.

I mean, he was never as loopy as Mike Danton was (few are), but he still always seemed to have more than a couple of screws loose.

Nebraska-Omaha will be on NBC Sports network tonight at 7:30, if anyone wants to get a look at Josh Archibald.

Whoops, didn't see the earlier post. Oh well.

And he pots UNO's 2nd goal off a rebound.

I gotta say, I didn't know Archibald played this physical. And not just physical, but he's layed out about 3 players in the 1st period alone. Do D-men just not expect it because of his smaller size? Surprising either way. He's gotten a lot stronger since last year.

Saw the Archibald goal. It was lucky, but good positioning.

He looks bigger than I remember of him in the WJCs last year, height-wise.

Sustr's a pretty impressive player. Dude's got some awesome vision/smarts for a big guy. His first pass is like, perfect every time. Mobility doesn't seem half bad either.

LOL.. Archibald just tried to put someone through the glass. I glanced at his dad's stats, he had 303 PIMs in 1 AHL season, so he must take after his dad a little bit.

Zlobin with points on the first 3 Val-d'Or goals, still early in the 2nd.

Putting up Sam Gagner numbers the last couple games.
