A 3 over 73 today has put Fritsch on the edge, he is currently tied for 69th with a one over total. He will have a long wait to see if he made the cut as some golfers have not yet even started the 2nd round.

Since we're fully into June, time to get in the swing of the summer soccer season!

Confederations Cup
June 15-30, Brazil

Call it a World Cup tune up, a mini-World Cup... whatever. A mostly pointless addition to the summer lineup, but still fun to watch.

TV coverage: Matches will be on CBC and Sportsnet World.

U20 World Cup
June 21-July 13, Turkey

The best of the youngsters get together for this once-every-other-year event.

Teams: France, Ghana, USA, Spain, Cuba, South Korea, Nigeria, Portugal, Turkey, El Salvador, Colombia, Australia, Mexico, Greece, Paraguay, Mali, Chile, Egypt, England, Iraq, New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Uruguay, Croatia

TV coverage: Sportsnet World. CBC has the final.

UEFA U21 Championship
June 5-18, Israel

Already started, the best youngsters in Europe are representing their countries.

Teams: Italy, Israel, Norway, England, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Russia

TV coverage: TSN and TSN2

Games today: England-Norway, 11:45(TSN2) and Italy-Israel, 2pm(TSN)

CONCACAF Gold Cup
July 7-28, United States

The championships for North, Central America and the Caribbean.

Teams: Mexico, Panama, Canada, Martinique, Honduras, El Salvador, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, United States, Costa Rica, Belize, Cuba

Canada games are July 7(Martinique), July 11(Mexico) and July 14(Panama).

TV coverage: Sportsnet World

2014 World Cup qualifying
On going at various sites.

Just over one year away from the big show in Brazil. Qualifying continues in all continents.

Teams: Everybody but Canada . Other than host Brazil, only other qualified team for the finals is Japan. 30 more spots to fill. Qualification goes until November 2013.

TV coverage: Sportsnet One, Sportsnet World

Enjoy.

Lebron James has a ho-hum first half.

Finished almost on a triple double, involved in like 25 straight points in the second half and has THE block of all blocks. That thing was dirty.

Almost seems unfair for a guy to have that much talent.

Yup. He doesn't have the skillset to be a legitimate NFL quarterback, but the media storm surrounding him will be a massive distraction. Historically New England has been decent at warding off the press but this is just inviting trouble.

As a Rams fan who hasn't forgotten the 2002 Super Bowl, I couldn't be happier.

Not really. The same issues are there: terrible accuracy, a tendency to backpedal instead of just taking the tackle, an inability to hang onto the ball, and a lackluster ability to read defences. His two strong suits are his running game and his blocking, neither of which are particularly suited for a QB.

Seriously.

If Tebow plays more snaps than Mallett, who is a better QB than Tebow in almost every possible way (while Tebow, admittedly, being a better RB than Mallett in almost every possible way), then the Pats are mismanaging a HUGE asset.

TONS of teams inquired on Mallett this offseason, and the Pats made it clear that he wasn't available, and that Mallett could be a long-term guy for them. Why would you so ardently protect Mallett (one of the league's better backups, which teams have inquired about to be a starter - Cleveland being the latest team rumored to have inquired about him), then go sign Tebow? It does not make any sense.

Maybe Belichek values Tebow's "character", and just wants him in the dressing room? I wouldn't put that past Belichek. And New England is probably one of the few places that can control the Tebow Media Train (Choo choo!).

Yeah I'd prefer if he didn't sign with the Pats, but it is what it is.. Like you said Bonk, he's going to be 3rd string at best behind Brady and Mallett..

With Gronkowski most likely gone for the first bit of the season and Hernandez coming off surgery too, I have a pretty good feeling they will use him as a makeshift blocking/running TE. I can't really see him having all that much of an impact though.. The Pats have been doing this for a few years now, getting those "good but lost" players and trying to revive them.. (Moss, Ochocinco, Haynesworth)

It's really only been Moss that has turned out though.

Eh, they also won a Super Bowl on Corey Dillon's back, too. I think he counts as a "turned out ok" reclamation guy.

More snaps than Mallett? As a QB? Not bloody likely.

If anyone can deal with the Tebow circus it will be the Pats and if any coach can find a way to utilize Tebow in new and unusual situations it's Bill Belichick.

He also comes with some knowledge of the Jets playbook. But that'll change quite a bit of course.

Lebron James goes to Miami to be part of a "big three."

Within three years, it's down to a big one, just like his Cleveland days.

Here's the Confederations Cup TV schedule...

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/fifaconfede...cup/broadcast/

Basically it looks like weekend games are on CBC, and then week day games are on Sportsnet TV and online through CBC. TLN has matches with Italian and Spanish commentary.
