I think Larsson's season has been disappointing considering his pedigree. His shot total is underwhelming at 33 shots in 24 games. I believe he is under his rate from last year in the NHL while he gets 1st line minutes and 1st PP minutes. I really don't think Larsson's offense ever gets more than the 35/40 point range.

Being third on the team in points as a defensmen is pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Leads the team in assists.
Actually, I see it as a blessing in disguise for Larsson. He's still a teenager and it showed more often then not last year, at the mid point of the season, wich is only normal. I'd rather see him play all 82 games, as a 1st pair d-men, in the AHL then have him play 60 games as a 2nd/3rd pair d-men in the NHL.
He has loads of time in front of him and he didn't sign up for a race, so I'm not worried one bit.
BTW, the only way he'll learn to stop NHL players.... is in the NHL, but there's no NHL ATM, so the AHL is the 2nd best option IMO
I honestly think the guys who know they have NHL spots locked up are just trying to stay loose and avoid injury. Henrique, Larsson, Gionta, etc (though two of those failed...). Josefson is giving a bit more effort even though he presumably is a lock.

That's pretty stupid if true.
I know I'm not a NHL player, but I play like it's game #7 of the SC finals in my pick-up league. I find it hard to believe that a pro athlete will give a "so-so" effort in a lesser league, just to avoid injuries.
These guys want to be the best night in/night out, that's just the mentality a pro athlete has to have cause there's so much competition that if you snooze too long, someone will bump you down a peg or two.
I have seen 2 Anton Volchenkov goals in person. The troll goal against the Pens where everyone surrounded Kovy and left volch completely open in front of the empty net and his goal in game 1 of the Finals.
I was at that game too. Hysterical. Kovy's passing abilities are underrated in general. I remember when he first came to the Devils his linemates were sometimes unprepared to receive the puck because they weren't used to it.

True... and it's right on the tape with blistering speed. His passing game is well above average.

Just my opinion.
This is true, but this is also a unique situation. These guys didn't know how long they would/will be there. If you thought you were just going down for a few weeks would you go full out and risk injury before getting back to the NHL? I think of it kind of like a conditioning stint for the guys who are locks. I'm sure not all players are like that, but from what I saw of Albany it didn't look like certain guys were giving all they had. Not to say they were dogging it, they just weren't going to put themselves into any kind of dangerous situation.

I remember Langenbrunner whiffing on several in particular. Lemaire got the hint eventually and stopped playing them together.
His move where he would pull up at the blue line and fire blind passes into the middle drove me mad though. Thank God he stopped doing that ****.
Not sure if Wohlberg is on the second or fourth line. I doubt Zajac would be centering the second line, although they might've but Anderson at center and had Sislo play wing.
Nevertheless, Albany losing 2-0 on a pair of PP goals. Zajac, Anderson, McPherson, and Leach out for both.

You hear about the Norfolk goalie pushing off the net, just before the Devils score?
Crappy unreliable radio broadcast. It still isn't working consistently.
Albany is getting shutout again tonight I bet. Said it after the 1st. 3rd is about to start, and they're probably getting a shutout. Also a good chance they tie the game, and lose in the shootout as usual.
I wish they'd fire Kowalsky let Albelin take over and bring in Brylin as the assistant. 2.3 goals per game is embarrassing. 0/10 tonight on the PP? How is that even possible.
Haha I was wrong! I kept losing the feed. They scored with 27 seconds remaining in the game. I did check the box score right after the game ended, and it did say 2-0 though at one time, and it was the final score. It was maybe a minute or two after it ended though.
Bad game for Albany tonight. They were up 1-0 on a Butler goal, but they were outplayed for most of the game. Larsson got injured with about 30 second left and had to leave the ice. Emerson Etem tied it with the goalie pulled and scored again to win it in overtime right off the opening faceoff.
