Habs Check, Sens Check, Sabres Check!

It seems that all we need to do now is dominate the Bruins!

Something we have struggled a lot with is divisional games but this year the boys have played extremely well! Even against the Bruins we kept it close (1-0) and displayed our speed and toughness.

I think this will be our playoff pass if we can keep it up!

Thoughts?

Bruins and Sabres (when Miller is on his game) are hard to beat, but we are doing a far better job this season against them. Sens and Habs are a joke. We still need to start beating teams in the conference like the Canes and Isles though.

The key to making the division in this shortened season with the 48 game conference-only schedule is to be able to win games in your division.

I said before the year the Leafs needed to have a very good record against the NE to have a shot, and so far we're 4-2-0 against the division so that's a good start.

Well I have a feeling it isn't going to be so easy next time. If they have any balls at all, that is.

You might want to add a couple checks after the habs. Gorges tears are all over the habs dressing room from that dominating defeat.

Gorges was the best part of that game I think. He was whining to all the cameras like a baby that lost his shaker

Carolina is a good team, I expect them to be in the playoffs. Look at their team: E. Staal, J. Staal, Semin, Skinner, Pitkanen, Ward, Faulk, Ruutu... etc

It helps that their division is playing like it's 1999 all over again.

How are Habs 2nd in Conference. Beat everyone except for us? Both games they were horrid against us.

Its like the Bruins/Sabres thing- Bruins dominate everyone except the sabres.

I don't get it either. I guess we just have their kryptonite in Grabo/Orr/McLaren/Fraser.

I believe they have played a bunch of 'easier' teams so far this year, but a 9-4-1 record this year is still damn good.

Not to be a debby downer or anything but given how depleted that Sens lineup was I wouldn't exactly say that we "dominated" them. Scrivens did, the team did not.

Raise your hand if you opened this thread thinking it was about those teams "forechecking"

3-0 end result is dominate enough in a match-up between two injury-depleted teams.

Injuries aside (both teams btw), the leafs defense limited the scoring chances and allowed Scrivens to make rather easy saves. I'm not saying he didn't make a couple brilliant saves, as he did, but he wasn't the sole reason why the leafs won last night. Were just used to assuming a high amount of shots against us is a bad thing, but this is Carlyle's type of system and it's working well.

Cherry picking won't do it. Yes, we are doing just above 0.5 against division, but have people forgotten 2010-11? We won every division series then, and the only one we didn't was a tie against Montreal. I'd say our hopes of making playoffs depend more so on inter division games than within NE.

As far as Habs are concerned, yes they have played good. However, they still have heavy number of home games played, and have been so lucky with injuries that even Armstrong is healthy. Wait until those 2 catch up. We have a good chance of being 2nd in division after Boston.

FYI, Leafs have actually been pretty good against the division in recent years.

In 2010-2011 we either won or tied every series and last year minus the Bruins series where we got destroyed, we won/tied the rest. Buffalo giving us a hard time is only 50% true now, we went 3-2-1 against them the last two seasons each and this year we're 1-1-0 where the game we lost was only by a goal (same with the one we won, lol).

We need to win enough games to make the playoffs. Doesn't matter who we best or lose to to get there.
