Is Leivo as tough/gritty as Horton? I was under the impression he didn't have that element to his game.

I've seen him live threes times this year. If you guys think he's better than Josh Leivo, you're kidding yourselves. He's a good prospect to have because of his size and potential, but I definitely think less of him now than I did on draft day.

No, but sometimes you see it and thus the comparison.

Wow, have you watched any Oshawa games this year?

Edit: since i've posted after you mentioned you had seen a few games. I'd like to point out how relevant and helpful a 3 game sample size is.

Biggs has a number of things you want in a player, and you definitely see the potential in him. Even if his scoring does not pick up enough to be a top 6er, he has the toolkit to become a very exceptional bottom 6er. He's big, strong, has some scoring touch, is a workhorse, is actually quite good defensively (he was used in many defensive situations for the U.S. World junior team). On top of that he has leadership qualities, and absolutely hates to lose (as evidenced by many video interviews).

Not taking anything away from Leivo of course because I like his game as well.

I think Leivo is better but i am excited for what Tyler can become as a physical/net presence winger. Leivo has better offensive skills and creates alot of turnovers on the forecheck but Biggs has very good positioning infront of the net, Im very happy with both.

Playing style, Not really a projection. But I'm a big fan of his.

There was another player that think may be a closer fit stylistically, But I feel comparing him to that player at this point is slightly unfair.

So do people think Leivo could be our steal like Adam Henrique for the Devils, Benn for the Stars etc?

Or is that too much to ask?

Yeah that's fair. I still think Carter Ashton has more of an offensive game than Biggs. If they could somehow mold together, we'd have a nice top 6 winger.

Definitely not Benn, but he's got obvious skill that gives him a chance.

I don't think he's a Greg Mckegg, who I'm not writing off yet.

Him making the NHL is good enough, but switching to center too? Come on, too much to ask

I know what you are saying and it is looking possible. Looks to be a solid pick at this point in time.

lol that would be nice, Biggs hands in tight/ within 10 feet of the net have been improving alot, there is offensive skill there.

I am excited about tyler biggs,
biggs in his first season in junior, has 20 goals already, has a good chance to reach 30, what else do we want from him,
plus has a slim chance of making the big team, but most likely with the marlies
than again he should have 50 goals, so I guess he is a bust

plus leivo and ashton are pretty good players too

You just agreed with my entire argument. 1st round picks should never be drafted with the intention of them becoming a bottom 6 NHL player. ESPECIALLY when they don't play center. Tyler Biggs was drafted because he could break out and had potential to be a Kassian. Well he's not that, and not even close. You're right though, he does project to be a player for us and that's why I think he remains a good prospect.

But that would be ridiculous and no one actually uses this logic

May sound weird, but I see a Brandon Dubinsky type player in Leivo.

Even a bit weirder, but when I watch him skate around the ice, he's very upright and his stick is always on the ice ready for a pass. It reminds me of Jeff Carter.

Remember, I'm not saying he's going to turn into these players, but among his peers, that's how he looks like, to me at least.

I'm hoping he doesn't turn into Dubinsky

Yeahhhh that's too much to ask.

He's playing well; he's not a superstar.

That's a little misleading. He's in his first year of junior, sure, but this is his draft +2 year. For a top 30 pick, I wish he'd produce more.
