Fraser however is not a NHL caliber d-man, he's a good guy to have in the minors because of his leadership and toughness but he's playing sheltered minutes in the AHL. How do you think he'd do in the NHL?
It is probably good to have these guys in the minors to protect the skilled guys that are being groomed for the NHL.
Don't need or want your real prospects getting thumped all the time by veteran goons, or enforcers being groomed to play 6 minutes a night in the NHL.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
im happy for the bus. i feel like he gets no respect here. he just quietly goes about his business (kind of like reimer). it would be interesting if one of burkes free wallets panned out in net.
3/5 shutouts is pretty impressive. playing well is one thing but in order to get a shutout you need a strong mental game as well imo. you need to have good concentration. it only takes one second of zoning out for the puck to go in the net.
I watched Rynnas in one of his starts last year where he didn't get the shutout (the other team got one across the line on a goal crash late in the game) where he made a ton of ridiculous saves. My better half and I were wishing he was playing net for the leafs that day.
I have a yankee doodle dish, and get college ames on Fox Sports and CBS College Sports, just haven't seen a UM-D game on yet. They usually show more toward the end of the season, when football is down, so I hope to see more of the college hockey soon. Should get to see a good bit of Tony C. After Christmas.

I'm curious. What current players in the NHL have taken Toninato's route?
What do you mean exactly? Going through the college route? If so, a lot of Americans go the college route. Parise is an example of someone who played in USHS (Minnesota High School league), then went to NCAA. Almost the same as Toninato except he skipped the USHL while Toninato is playing USHL hockey for a year.
Dominic Toninato LC Duluth East H.S., 60.5 165
Toninato is our best Minnesota prospect. He has finished playing high school hockey for Duluth East
this season. Dominic has good size, but a lanky frame which he will need to add a lot of s to. However,
we see a lot of similarities between him and a player like Derek Stepan. He has great hockey sense and
protects the puck very well so it is rarely exposed. He has a quick release and good shot and is able to
find the soft spots when he is in traffic. He is a Minnesota-Duluth commit.
Quotable: This kids hockey sense is up with the best of them. I love his puck protection
skills, he understands how to use his body. This is a very talented kid with an overall solid
game who just needs to get stronger. Mark Edwards
