There has been a lot of discussion on him on the Jets board.
The coaching staff (as well as Ice Caps fans), have said that he has been playing very well. The best player most nights for the Caps.
That's not going to show up looking squarely at the stat sheet though. The entire team has had a terrible time scoring, and has an atrocious shooting %.
Basically, only looking at Burmistrov's points, and concluding that he's not playing well in the AHL, seems overly simplistic.
I only looked at the stats. But he is up there on scoring for a poor offencive team. He's shown that he has decent all around game in the past. By no means does it look like he his carrying the team offensively like most had hoped to help push him to a NHL second line centre. Or at least that was my assumption. But I didn't think he had regressed.
I see two main things:
*Burmistrov and many of his line-mates have had terrible puck luck
*Burmistrov is a playmaking/two-way centre, and St. John's doesn't really have any real finishers. They are more a team of grinders and blue collar guys
