Mark Streit to Detroit

What would it take? How about Quincey and Abdekater?

Sure you can have Abdekater... if you can find someone with that name.

But seriously how about Quincey and a 3rd?

Won't happen, each team has the same needs. But keep in
mind, Streit is a top pairing guy. I'd stop with the lame proposals. Filpulla would be an alright piece.

I would easily do Quincey + Abdelkader.

We'll throw in Emmerton if you toss in MacDonald.

That's not even close to fair.

I don't want to trade Streit. He'll probably re-sign with the team anyway.

Players like Quincey and Abdelkader are a dime-a-dozen. Mark Streit is a top-line defenseman. They would ask for more than that.

It's salary cap fair.

All it would take is to wait until free agency and throw some money.

He will look great playing with Suter on Detroit's back end. Isn't it awesome how you can instantly acquire any player once they hit free agency?

I hope you know that MacDonald is a top-4 defenseman, not just a throw in for any deal.

Well aware. Unfortunately the fact that he's probably the most valuable player for his cap hit means they probably never move him.

The season would have to start, but then it is pretty fair value. That is two guys under contract for a pending UFA. I think the Wings would have to do that if it was offered to them. Not sure Holland is shopping either guy he seems to like both quite a bit, no matter how much that annoys large parts of the fan-base.

Highly doubt Isles do this, even if Streit is an upcoming UFA. You simply don't trade a top pairing D for two mediocre players.

We need defenseman and Streit is one of the few legit top 4 defensemen we have while bringing an important offensive element. I would be suprised if he is dealt at the deadline.

Isles owner is talking up a playoff run this season.

I doubt the isles who've revamped their D, move Steit before finding out how Hamonic/Streit/Vis/MacDonald/Carkner/Donovan click.

Even more awesome, is when opposing fans pencil in a player from another team into their lineup, only to see that player sign an extension with his old team

I'm not so sure about that. Streit stated repeatedly that he wants to play in the playoff once. And if the Isles are still rebuilding for a couple of years he might sign with a sure playoff team.

I guess it depends on whether Streit thinks that the isles are still rebuilding, for another couple of yrs.

Wang's comments, make it clear that he thinks this group is good enough to push for a playoff spot. Does Streit, who likes it on LI, agree with Wang?

Mark Streit plays with the John Tavares show every day, which is why Isles fans are confident we'll have a good chance to retain him.

With a decreased cap and a new arena deal, there's absolutely no reason the Isles can't compete for veteran help. The rebuild should be ending.

Cheers,

Dan-o

Streit would be a good fit in Detroit. If I was NYI, I'd consider a decent package for him in a "deadline" type deal and then look to resign him for 1 year in the offseason.

The only way I'd want Streit dealt, was if the isles were out of the playoff race by the trade deadline and Streit rejected Snow's extension offer.

and at 35/36, Streit will be looking for the security of a multi-yr deal imo. Not a 1 yr contract.

I'm Personally hoping he gets offered a 3 year 12-15M extension once the lock-out ends.
