So the Oilers are essentially giving up 3 1st overall picks and Gagne. Ouch.
So you are assuming that the Oilers' 1st in 2013 is first overall? I know they have drafted first overall 3 years running (and better not again anytime soon), but that is a big assumption to make, especially if there is another draft lottery like after the last lockout, since they will have only one ball.
Also, if Eberle was the one included and not Hall, its 1 or 2 first overalls (likely one).
Does not leave the oilers with much offence left , but makes us very strong at C and improve our d . We would be a better team and harder to play against , but i do not think it makes us a contender . We need to stay the course and finish our rebuild . Plus i think all teams decline
Why would the Coyotes run away with this? Sure, the draft pick would be nice but if the draft is done the same way as it was in 2005 then it wouldn't be that good. Gagner is so overrated it isn't funny and Eberle is good but the combo is NOT good enough to replace Yandle AND Hanzal. No, the Coyotes would not trade a center(a position they're already kinda short in) and their #1D for a bust(seriously, Yandle and Gagner have about the same amount of point average recently but Yandle is actually good at defending) and a scorer(a good one but will he be able to maintain his shooting percentage?). The Coyotes just came out of a conference final, they're not rebuilding and don't need to get rid of two of their best players for one good player and assets.

So, throw in another 1st overall from Edmonton and Shultz. I mean, they're giving away everything else.
And Yandle + Hanzal wouldnt get you Eberle/Hall + 1st
^the only way some of these trades actually happen is if these 3 teams wanted to shake things up...right now i can tell you that, besides the odd trade here or there, the Oilers will not be shaking things up any time soon. they have stayed the course and will likely do so until they can see what most of their kids can really do, and that will be at least 2 or 3 years down the road when d-men prospects like Teubert, Marincin, Klefbom and Musil are playing here and also when we start to see what Eberle, RNH, Hall and Yakupov can really do as well.
