Fantasy Football Advice/Roster Discussion Thread 2012
might want to make a stickey if any mod swings in here....
saw this thread from the 2011 season, felt we should continue it here for this upcoming year....
most teams will have played their second pre-season game this weekend, and we should know a little bit more about who is going to start, what rookies look good or bad, which free agents are clicking, and what players if any have gotten injured...
looks like my main man AP is cleared to practice and has a very realistic chance to play week 1....crazy thing is now do people jump back on the AP bandwagon and go round 1 with him????
Jake Locker is one of my favorite sleepers for this year. his skill is off the charts, I think the Titans would be foolish to not give this kid the ball...I am targeting him in most drafts that I get in as a #3 qb, who as crazy as it sounds could produce top 12 numbers with that Titans offense.
here is another news flash that doesnt need a link....
both Arizona Cardinal qb's suck!
a whole lot of blah! going on there in that city...poor Fitzgerald, dude puts up beastly numbers with some of the lamest qb's I have seen the past 3 plus years...
ah what the hell, here is a link for you guys if you seriously doubted my above statement!!
for those wondering about Cedric Benson (and there must be throngs of you), and those late to the party, here is an interesting read on why CB picked Green Bay over Detroit and Oakland..
Not sure if he will accept, but I am thinking of making an offer for Cam Newton.
Cam Newton + Michael Floyd (BN) for Tony Romo and Santonio Holmes (BN) would he accept?
I dont see why you would really make that move to be honest...
I dont see Newton as an upgrade over Romo, I think both will have similar numbers this year with Newton possibly hitting a sophmore slump wall...he does play on a **** team...
I had Holmes last year and he killed me, but your not getting an upgrade at receiver either...
If you like Cam Newton a ton, and he is the guy you want then pull the trigger on that trade...but to me, it seems like a lateral move with a slight drop-off losing Holmes who still is the Jets #1 receiver (means snot really, but its true)...
I dont think it really makes your team look any different to be honest..

never want to see any news about my favorite team and player involving going under the knife....Urlacher is getting up there in age and something like this is pretty worrisome to me, especially that I picked the Bears defense in 1 of my leagues!
Promoting real nicknames instead of just players initials
Quote:
MF: How'd you get your nickname, All Day?
Peterson: It's the name I've been had since I was young. A lot of people get it kind of twisted up, "it's easier to just be AP," but it's the first two initials of my name, AD, All Day. I was so active, always had energy, just running around. I'm pretty sure there are people that just can't sit still, they've got so much energy, always moving, always doing something. That's how I got that name.
figured I would post this here as well for all you Ryan Matthews fans...
Mathews expects to be back for Week 1
Ryan Mathews, RB, SD
News: Injured Chargers running back Ryan Mathews told XTRA Sports 1560 in San Diego that there's "no doubt" he'll be ready for the start of the season. Mathews broke the clavicle in his shoulder on his first preseason carry against the Packers and is expected to be out until at least the end of the preseason. Mathews is reportedly out of his sling already and participating in light individual workouts, seemingly ahead of schedule.
Analysis: The San Diego Union-Tribune believes the Chargers will still count on Mathews to carry the majority of the rushing workload but admits the track record of his durability is a concern. The fact Mathews could be back by the season opener means Fantasy owners can't downgrade him too much on Draft Day. We have all seen the damage he can do when healthy. While Mathews has durability issues, he is still worth owning in Fantasy because of his big-play abilities. Expect him to get snagged between 12th and 18th overall in drafts as a borderline No. 1/No. 2 Fantasy rusher. If you pick him Mathews, spending a pick in Round 10 or 11 on Ronnie Brown is a safe move
Im in a 16 team standard scoring keeper league and I have to have 3 of them set in a few days.
Jimmy Graham
Fred Jackson
Michael Turner
Victor Cruz
Im keeping Graham for sure and most likely Cruz because he is younger then the other two. Which three would you keep?
16 team keeper league????
good lord! that has to be insane to fill out a roster after round 10!!
I am always a running backs kind of guy, and with 16 teams you have to think to yourself can you find someone to replace a Michael Turner if you let him go?? I am not sure who is going to be available for you to pick up, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to keep Graham, Jackson, and Turner to be honest...
I think Cruz is getting big time overrated and will not come close to his 2011 numbers... Turner is older and is going to get less work, but he is as reliable of a #2 rb as there is...so as I said if you think you can snag up another running back to replace Turner then keep Cruz, just be prepared for a sophmore slump for Cruz that will keep him around the 20-25 wideout range imo...

I have Hillis and DeAngelo Williams as well but I have given up on them. They were my keepers last year and the reason I have the fourth overall pick this year. I tend to agree about Cruz, I should see if I can spin him off for a pick.

well if you have the 4th overall pick that could change things some as you can likely get a solid rb to replace Turner...I wasnt sure where you were in that moster 16 teams with your pick!
I still stand by my comments with Cruz...I am letting everyone else jump up and get him at insane 3rd -4th round ADP... I am not comfortable to get him there...if you can move Cruz I would try to while he is still worth a lot in many peoples eyes..
