The whole premise to free agency is overpaying for players. If we set a max amount on players, then all those teams interested will essentially be offering the exact same amount of money, making free agency random, instead of possibly rewarding teams who have managed their cap well.

Lets not forget the whole "GM" aspect to this game mode.

Yup.

It is basically impossible to create a rule that is fair.

The problem is that EA made the free agency engine dumb. It didn't account for the fact that UFAs players will rarely settle for short-term deals when they can secure longer-term contracts.

Basically, there needs to be a much bigger gap between the increments for 1-, 2-, or 3-+ offers, and a much bigger penalty for teams that offer a deal shorter (or longer) than the player prefers.

All that said, we're all working under the same system. Sure, it penalizes the teams with a realistic amount of cap space ($3-$8 million), but those teams also, at this point, generally have more star quality players--since the Redden, Gomez, etc.-style contracts have basically run their course.

I think Klefbom should have a say on sweepstakes since half the teams put a bid on him.

Someone probably signed him to a 1-way deal. Plus limits .925, at least I hope cause that's what I offered.

It was supposed to be zero, right?

He was going to skip right to the season at 9:00 EST--and any remaining UFAs would be signed during the first playable window.

But if I don't send a deal before that next advance I will lose out on whatever players were given offers, right?

I'm confused.

He asked why you were only allowing an hour to the second UFA window. I said that there was originally not going to be a second UFA window, so any time should be regarded as a bonus. Isn't that correct?

On the original schedule, the second signing period would have been during the first playable block, right?
