I think MacKinnon will make the team 100%, I'd be completely surprised if he was left off it.

Corrado looks good to make the team right now, Dumba and some of the other defensemen have sucked.

Was writing an exam only caught the last 5 minutes or so of that period. Seems like Subban let in a softy and 3 goals all together so far, shakes my faith a little bit since he isnt handling the pressure. Also looked like Dumbas lost out there from what I saw, does anyone actually think he makes this team?

Murphy again not looking great defensively from the sound of it?

Id agree.. would be a mistake to leave him off.. one of the only guys that has created something and stood out almost every shift...

I can't blame any fanbase right now for wanting to see their own draft pick donning a Team Canada jersey. As soon as the rosters are set, we can cheer for the logo on the front. Hell, these Canadian players are competing against each other, so we as fans have the right to do so as well.

Me too. He's played well enough so far that he should be a HS tomorrow in my opinion. Question is whether he's top six or 13th at this point.

I'm biased, but as far as RD go, it's probably: Corrado, Sproul, Murphy, Dumba. Dumba has been downright brutal, constantly getting skated around when skating backwards horrible mobility in this game.

Murphy has shown some offensive flash but not enough to make up for his defensive mistakes. He's lucky he's at least playing with Reinhart.

yeah subban let in a couple squeekers, i thought dumba would be 7th forward but as of now id rather have reinhart and murphy as bottom pair with corrado as 7th... possibly switching murphy and corrado back and forth if needed.

Murphy got exposed once i think but other than that he takes matters into his own hands, slows the play down when in trouble and moves it accordingly, also made a smart play for the back door pinch which almost worked at the end

That's not how it sounded from interviews pre-camp. They said Dumba would have to show up big time to have a chance, they were not impressed with his WHL showing this season.

Corrado is having a great camp, so is Pouliot to a certain degree.

Have not been impressed with Dumba/Reinhart.

It looks like they're playing the guys on the bubble (Shinkaruk,Monohan, Lipon) instead of our top lines so don't read too much into the score.

Missed the first 10 minutes. Can anyone recap?

Subban needs to pick it up, really. At camp, the goalies in order:

-Paterson
-Binnington
-Brossoit
-Subban

I think if Subban can just be steady, he'll have the #1 spot.

I don't know if I agree with Wilson and Dumba being cut. I haven't seen enough of Dumba, but I feel like both he and Wilson fit the mould that Canada needs to be successful.

Both are big and physical, and our run of 5 straight wins was largely due to the physical play of the back end of our roster. Canada is known to push guys around and I think Dumba and Wilson can do it.

1st period observations

-Corrado looks pretty steady
-Subban with an uncharacteristic period, looked flat out bad compared to how he is in Belleville
-Dumba is not good enough to be on the team this year
- Wilson showed nothing should not be on this team
-Murphy better not be more than a PP specialist, enough said....
McNeill showed some good hockey IQ made solid plays
-Mackinnon was far and away the best player for Team Canada, created something positive every shift

That's about right on all 3 accounts IMO. Wasn't impressed with any of those three. Subban hasn't controlled the puck well and let in at least one he would definitely want back, if not two. Dumba hasn't shown anything positive and seems slow and a liability so far. Murphy is shaky in his own end when defending and has had a bad turnover or two already.

Was definitely the best D pairing in period one.

We can do that once the roster is set.

IMO, Subban is still outplaying Brossoit

Captained his team at the Ivan Hlinka I believe or maybe it was the U18s. They have a familiarity and Dumba has the HC pedigree. I'm not saying he won't be cut, just saying I'd be shocked if it's tonight.

One bad period doesn't shake my faith enough to leave Subban off.

Mackinnon's been great, you can't leave him off the roster. I love Monahan's game too, I think he should make it... can play a variety of roles too.

If Mac makes it, i can see him sticking in the top 6 as the tournament rolls along. He may come in as the 13th forward. I just don't think you can not bring him with you to Ufa. A guy that can break the top 6 or give you some scoring punch on the bottom 6 at the very least. And he's not much of a liabilty defensively. He's smart with the puck in the D-Zone when he gets in trouble.

Now all the goalies except Paterson have cracked at some point this year playing for Canada. Subban had a ****** period for sure, uncharacteristic to get rattled like that. The defense didn't help, specifically Dumba.

As a non-Canadian I don't know a whole lot about these players but after 1 period I really liked the McNeill-Wilson line, particularly McNeil. Their line really pressured the other team like no other line.

Hockey Canada has to stop looking at the age of these guys and just bring the best team. If MacKinnon is good enough then he should make the damn team. Sometimes I really think Hockey Canada makes things more difficult on themselves for no reason. MacKinnon has to make this team. He's going to be the number 1 pick in the draft, he's clearly one of the best players in the CHL if not the best, he's gotta make it.

Wilson threw the biggest hit of the period early on. I at least noticed him which is more than I can say for some others because of those black numbers on red jerseys...

Murphy looked atrocious out there defensively as well. Turnovers, getting danced on, spitting the puck up when fore checking pressure was applied.
