I think no undrafted player has made it DURING a lockout. Only a few get the opportunity. I don't really get the comparisons to Crosby though for MacKinnon. If anyone is on Crosby's level, it'll probably be McDavid.
If Mackinnon's not I don't know if McDavid will be. Truthfully, I doubt we'll see anyone on Sid's level in a longgg time. Truly generational player.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dumba go in the next round of cuts if he doesn't come through in the next game.
I feel as like Hockey Canada really wanted Dumba on the team but he is playing his way off, both with his play in the past couple of days and even in the Subway series.
I don't get to watch much of the Rebels but man he looks bad here.

I'm not suprised that Dumba is struggling. His hockeysense and ability to make smart decisions at high speed is bigtime lacking and this is why I never bought into the hype.
I hope Laurent starts. I like Subban, don't get me wrong, but I believe with Brossoits playoff experience, he will handle pressure well.
I really hope Daniel Catanacci makes the team. Reppin Newmarket.
Personally, I agree with you on Broissoit, but in terms of Catanacci, I don't give a hoot where he's from, he has no business on that team over guys like Drouin.
I think he'll make it over Drouin, because Hockey Canada has proven to be off their nut, but in terms of impactand ability, they aren't even in the same discussion.
Would have liked to see more of Monahan, guy's great and I would have loved him on the team.
Speaking as more of a Pens' fan than Leafs, I can safely say nobody's really let down. Canada's too stacked on D for him to make it and everybody expected that. Just glad he acquitted himself admirably and hopefully gained some good experience.
Tavares? Hall? Stamkos?
Either way, at this point, I'd be surprised if he didn't make it. Too talented and he's been really good too in his tryouts.
That is the truth.
The #2 overall pick in 2012 had to be hurt for the #5 overall pick in 2012 to be in the top pairing. And that's because the #9 overall pick in 2011 is already slotted for #1 spot.
This D is on an "All-Time" level.
Just to get invited as a d-man is a huge positive.
Really surprised Dumba wasn't cut. Definitely looked lost out there. As for Drouin, you can tell just how creative he is, but he was getting pushed around a lot. He may not be physically ready to play in this tournament.

Of course, it is a 19 year old tournament, and I'm betting the UofA was older.

He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
Size wise, it's not far off from what he will be seeing at the WJC if he makes it - the average roster player for UofA was 5.11/188lbs. I personally would prefer Drouin over Rattie, but I doubt hockey Canada shares the same view.
