Hobey Baker hopefuls

Every year I watch NCAA hockey stats real close and use alot of what i see and read to draft 1 or 2 NCAA prospects each year in my keeper hockey pools. I am just writing to see who everyone thinks will be Hobey Baker nominees this season. I was hoping that Nick Bjugstad would be dominating a little more this season (yes I know the season is still young, but he is nowhere near top of scoring leader boards) But he was my pick before the start of the season. Also one other I like and hoping he continues to do well is Joey Laleggia. Who does everyone else like???

John Gaudreau could get a nomination he is dominating Hockey East. But to be honest I only really follow Hockey East.

At the rate Gaudreau is going i'd be very surprised if he didn't win it.

Probably Gaudreau but a lot can happen until then.

Laleggia if he continues to lead defense in scoring, but hid defensive game might hold him back. Gaudreau is a safe bet

Gaudreau is a very safe bet. Most of the time, the Hobey goes to the leading scorer on one of the best teams that plays in one of the "Big-3" conferences (HE, CCHA, WCHA). BC might be the best team in the country, and Gaudreau is very near the top of the scoring list. If the award was given out today, he would probably win it, but as someone stated before, the season is only half over.

Rylan Schwartz (Jaden's brother) is another one to keep an eye. He's flown under the radar the majority of his career but he has the most career points of any player currently playing in the WCHA and is having another great year.

If the winner was chosen now Gaudreau would win. A lot can happen though. Flanagan is another guy who could challenge for the win. Even Kristo has a chance. If I were to bet though it would be Gaudreau, and not just because he's a flames prospect.

So that 1 extra point means what exactly? Is this guy your relative or friend?

Corban Knight one of the best in faceoffs, top in points every year for North Dakota, think he woud have to be considered as one of the top ten finalists.

I'm curious why you mentioned him as a Hobey Baker candidate this season despite poor stats and no mention by any of the college websites as in the discussion for the Hobey. Would just like to hear your reasoning....

Any chance Haula get's nominated? I don't know much about him because it's two years since I've seen him play, all I know is that he's scoring at an impressive pace on a very strong Gophers squad.

This is probably the most underrated forward in the country. Probably the best faceoff man in the country, and one of the best defensive forwards as well. He is going for his third straight 40 point season. He has always been overlooked, even though he plays at North Dakota. I think North Dakota will have one Hobey Finalist, it will either be Knight or Kristo. Knight just had a 4 point tonight, Kristo with a meager 3 points as well.

For sure. Leading scorer on a good team in a major conference. He has all the elements needed for a nomination, now he just needs to keep scoring.
