Haven't been as proud to coach in awhile as I have tonight.
My team cameback to win 4-2 going into the 3rd down 1-2. Both of their goals being sketchy, one stood despite the line ref blowing it dead and the other stood despite them running down our goalie.
My brother led the charge to make it tied 2-2 by making a couple passes from deep in his own zone for breakaways. Those of us on the bench had our jaws drop when a perfect pass found its way to the guy jumping on the rink during a change and he had all the room in the world to get us back into the game with his goal.
If anyone is considering, but hasn't done it yet. I really recommend getting involved in coaching, it's so rewarding. I started when I was 18 and haven't regretted it one bit.
I would love to but I wouldn't know where to start?
Search online for your local rec league and see if they need some assistant coaches? If you get involved there, you can usually find coaches that do travel/school leagues or have connections to those programs and can refer you there if you do well.
I just coach a rec league team right now, between school and work I wouldn't have time to do anything else. But in the future I intend on trying to get involved in more competitive hockey as a coach.
E: Also, the 'The Rink' forum could probably help you out more too if you were serious.
