Trouba Vs Dumba

These two dman were both drafted in top 10, Dumba was 7th Trouba 9th. They both play a similar type of game, they are physical and deliver punishing hits, have offensive upside and leadership traits.

Trouba 14gp 4g 6a 10pts (NCAA)

Dumba 31gp 7g 10a 17pts (WHL)

But who would you rather have in your organization? For me as a Wild fan i have to say Trouba, he seems like a player who will better be suited to NHL play.

Whats your take on it

Trouba is the safer pick to be sure, but Dumba has more upside both offensively and physically. Dumba is way more explosive. It depends on organizational need, I suppose.

Trouba. Dumba's hockey sense (or the lackthereof) scares me.

I'll take a differant tack. I think you know what you're going to get with Dumba: a trainwreck (for good and bad). Trouba is the lesser known quantity, but at the same time has shown an upward progression (in particular his offense) that wasn't necessarily expected. He also hits like an absolute train while being much more refined in other aspects of his game. To me, it's Trouba and it's not even close.

I have heard good things about Dumba's progression this season in his play within the Rebels zone. Also we can't read into Dumba's point production this season because the Rebels lack offensive firepower, but it would be nice to see him carry Red Deer. I am hoping Dumba gets traded soon so he can showcase his abilities and or given the chance for Canada (WJ) but hasn't played strong so far

As a Wild fan, I like both prospects but I love the fact that we have a potential rockstar in Dumba (or bust). The kid was simply GREAT at the Wild's prospect camp this summer after the first few minutes went by and he calmed down. The Jets and Wild should be pleased with their selections and we'll just see what happens in time... Trouba is going to be a good - great player, no doubts in my mind about that

I have to go with Trouba too, it seems once he properly develops, he's going to have a big impact for the Jets.

Trouba's development curve reminds me of Ryan Mcdonaugh and the way he played last year at the WJC was sensational for a pre-draft player. Dumba doesn't seem like he has improved from last year.

Pre-draft, I was all for Trouba.

Post-draft, Dumba has impressed me to the point where I'm satisfied with him, and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop. He truly has the potential to become a fan-favorite, and follows the mold of Wild management drafting leaders.

Honestly, I'd be happy with either player.

Had the chance to draft Trouba in my keeper pool a few months ago and i passed on him.... huge mistake... love this guy and i think he will be a beast. (Drafted Stefan Matteau instead and am still quite happy with that decision)

We don't get a chance to hear as much about Trouba so it's going to be nice to see him in the World Juniors.

Trouba is looking quite a lot better at the moment. Looked like a stud in the WJC's and is looking fantastic in Michigan (even though they're having quite the down year).

To hear it from NCAA scouts and Wolverine fans, apparently Trouba is their best player.

Trouba without really thinking twice.

I was never as high on Dumba as others were pre-draft.

His offense is something though Trouba doesn't have IMO.

wanted us to pick Trouba in the draft. that hasn't changed, though i'm not exactly depressed about Dumba. A Brodin-Dumba pair could actually be very, very effective.

Wild has ample time in the back with the suter signing, so I am sure the wilds will give him his time to get it all together. I predicted you guys would want Dumba so wasn't surprised when it happened on draft day, you already have a reliable D in Brodin but not as offensive strong as Dumba. A dumba-brodin combo could be lethal IMO.

Didn't like Dumba pre draft, don't like him now, my top choice would have been Rielly followed by Lindholm then Trouba, One thing that is for sure is Dumba will get the time he needs to develop, he won't be rushed but i just hope that he gets his tools into the tool box to be good.

Trouba.

Dumba is a huge boom or bust type of player.

Haven't seen Trouba play in the NCAA, but 10 points in 14 games in the NCAA is more impressive then Dumba's 17 points in 31 games in junior. Again i don't really watch either guy often but i always though Dumba's offensive game was overrated when i have seen him.

Trouba doesn't get the attention that Dumba does , but i have only heard good things and I would definitely rather have Trouba.

Amazing how much can change in a few months.
I remember around draft time I said I would easily take Trouba over Dumba and people were like "Man you crazy". I was way higher on Trouba then most it seemed but his skillset was always exciting to me and thought with his size and skating ability he'd be able to develop quite nicely. He's like the new age shutdown defender were the can play great defense by using there legs and winning races to loose pucks, cutting off players with good angles and being able to skate the puck out of dangerous spots (something guys like Schenn, Komisarek etc) really cant do.

Dumba has good offensive traits but hes a mess defensively and worse his hockeysense is brutal. I never really bought into the hype and not suprised he's looked bad when at these bigger stages.
