Far too many cooks in the atd kitchen. There always has to be somebody to change something up last minute. Just leave well enough alone and can we move on? This is worse then watching an episode of the View.

Agree.

FWIW, I trust that spitfire's order was done randomly, honestly and impartially.

I do think it was odd how fast that all got pushed through though.

I agree that it's practically impossible to do anything about it now due to the conflict of interest.

Anyone who doesn't like it should refer to my first statement. Spitfire is a stand up guy.

HOWEVER - if you ask me, this means that it is pretty much a certainty that switching draft positions has to be an option to whoever wants it.

Has anybody ever opposed this?

not that I have really noticed. But isn't VI still asking that it get voted on? that kinda implies that there is dissent in the ranks when it comes to this idea.

Depending on the results of the poll about trading, it might end up being technically forbidden. I think that was seventies' concern.

I was under the impression that full swaps were always going to be allowed

Swapping all picks has never been considered like trades.

Exactly. I don't see the issue here. We pick a start date, if you want to swap picks it has to be done by the start of the draft. The end

As discussed earlier in the "planning" thread (that has now veered hopelessly off topic), being able to trade your full draft position will be allowed even if we vote on a no-trade draft. Swapping a full draft position doesn't count as a "trade," and it didn't in ATD2011 when we had that awful 3 trade limit.

Seems like the draft is full. Maybe you could take a co-GM?

Guys, are we even certain we have a locked down full team list yet?

This was done way too hastily (and yes, in this scenario I AM specifically looking at you, VI). This probably shouldn't stand the way it is. Hell, we should probably have RULES SET before a draft order is set. Without rules being set, I have no idea where I want to draft yet/try to swap picks to possibly if I want to. This is absolutely a mess.

Wow, amazed this took off so quickly. In other news, I'm shopping my draft position at #8, I've picked in that area 2 of 3 ATD's and would like to draft in the 15-25 range.

Just throw the results out and hammer out the rules first. These things happen. No one has objected on the grounds that they want to keep their draft position, and I doubt that anyone will. We're all adults here, but moving forward without a proper consensus is not worth the frustration it might engender. It's not like spitfire's going to care about anyone throwing out his five minutes of work.

Well said. VI, I appreciate your effort to help run the draft and your enthusiasm, but I think from here on out you need to take things a little slower and make sure any issues that are brought up have been fully addressed before moving the draft on to the next step. I think it was blatantly clear that some GMs were not ready to do a lottery.

I agree the lottery was done with a very bad timing.I'm one of the guys who want it to be done soon enough but it was done without warning. If we're to do the lottery announce it a couple of hours before so that at least a couple of GMs will be aware that it is going on.

That said , it's not the end of the world and I'm not blaming VI or spitfire.Let's just forget about that lottery and do it later after the rules are announced.

Not to toot my own horn, I think the guys who picked in the top 5 last year were all quite knowledgeable and are some of the best GMs we have in these drafts.

I vote to establish the rules and then figure out the draft order. I don't care how the draft order is determined, I just want it changed because I'm drafting #6 and I don't like it at all. I've drafted 3rd and 9th the last two drafts, and I think 16th my first draft(what a disaster that was). I want to draft at the end of the first round.

Hey, sorry I'm so late to the party. A big life-move and lack of NHL hockey pretty much kept me off HF completely for the past few months.

Sadly, I don't think I have time to take on a team this time around (which is good because the draft appears to be full). New place, new job, etc.

But I'd be happy to help someone out if they're looking for advice throughout the draft. I could be the Nonis Loiselle to your Burke Nonis...

Damn, second champ in a row to retire on top.

We'd make room for you somehow if you wanted in.

I'M TAKING MY BALL AND GOING HOME

I just don't have time this time around. I think it would result in a lot of missed picks. But I'm sure the ATD hasn't seen the last of me as a full-time GM.

How about you teamed with one of those eager rookies? You don't need to call yourself a co-GM, but just an experience GM to help them around. A counselor, just like Brian Burke. Even if you vanish for a week or two they can still manage and make selection, but I think your knowledge would be invaluable to anyone participating in this draft. Hell, if you come around and crack a joke or two it'll be enough!
