U-20 thread (Div 1 Group A)

belarus won slovenia yesterday 2-0 and now is up 2-0 against austria

artur gavrus had his hand in all four belarusian goals so far (1+3), 0+2 today

roman kolenchukov is benefiting from playing with artur - 2 goals today

Are opposing goalies having great games against Belarus or are there that many easy shots?

I mean Belarus has ~90 shots and only 4 goals scored.

yeah, it's somewhat an issue

belarus had some problems with converting numerous scoring chances into goals, though they were in total control of either game

but as long as belarus keeps winning it's not so important it'll be forgotten

but it's interesting to see how it will go in next games, especially against norway and denmark which are the main competitors for the elite division spot

G Shelepnyov on fire? Good for him, playing a few KHL games is always helpful

Tough loss to Norway today, looks like Shelepnyov was outdueled by Norways goalie who face ~15 more shots. So Den has to beat Nor tmrw, then Bel. has to beat Den for a chance to move on.

that was pivotal loss

belarus had their chances against norway, played their game pretty well, but they didn't manage to score more goals.

then zalamay and gavrus both had a big game vs france.

now belarus playing against denmark and they're leading 2-0, while shooting 18 times against 4 denmark shots in the 1st period. seems that it'll be another win.

so, belarus once again missed opportunity to return to elite division of junior hockey. though there were some bright spots - gavrus, zalamay, lisovets. i really hope that lisovets will be drafted this year, he plays men game at his age.
gavrus proved that he's already grown and he dominates at junior level
another plus - belarus outshot their opponent in every game played, so there were able to create, but struggled to convert sometimes.

congrats to norway, though.

kolenchukov from gavrus and ambrozheichik

4-0
gavrus scores, converts two-man advantage, assists from kolenchukov and dalidovich.
now 5 goals, 5 assists in 5 games, leading all div 1a players

shelepnyov was robbed of a shutout by bjorkstrand with 5 seconds left in the game
it could have been his third

Looks like they will be set up to have a good team for next year. Although I don't think that they will have the goaltending with caliber that Shelepnyov could provide. Any big name 95 or 96's?
