Nationals have "heavy interest" in Vazquez, if they sign him that means Detwiler would be the odd man out and they need a left handed reliever so he could be moved to the pen but I think that he should be starting I just think he has good upside and putting him in the pen would be a mistake.

Jeff Karstens back to Pittsburgh for one season at $2.5 million. The extremely questionable decision to non-tender him seems to have saved the Pirates $1.3 million in the end (expected to make $3.8 via arbitration).

Having a swing-man who can eat innings out of the bullpen and start 15-20 times a year is a nice thing to have.

Plus we get to look at his beautiful mug for another year, and that'll make for some frothy loins on the North Shore.

What's the status on Storen? Is he completely healthy going into this season?

I dunno. But after his game 5 meltdown in the nlds, it's safe to say the Nats don't have confidence in him.

Jeez, knowing Boras he used his other clients with the Nats as leverage to make them sign Soriano.

Huge contract, but the Nats desperately need a shut down guy at the end of games. Their patchwork group of closers worked decently in the regular season, but in the playoffs it ended their year. Soriano really makes them Championship contenders, imo.

Dang, the Nationals could have taken the 14 million to Soriano and the 12 million to Laroche, and gotten themselves a huge bat in the middle or the order.

Soriano, Storen, Clippard, Burnett. Should be 1 of the best pens in baseball.

Washington has to be close to a 100 win team no? I mean their roster is so so solid top-to-bottom.

Burnett was a free agent and signed with the Angels.

Regardless, that's a damn fine bullpen. Probably top 5 in the league.

Makes me laugh/cry that a ****ing closer will make more each of the next two than the highest point of Andrew McCutchen's new contract, but billionaires not giving a **** about market value isn't exactly uncommon in this sport anymore.

Winning 100 games is never easy but if there's a team that can do it this season, smart money would be on Nats. They look like a team without a real weakness.

Phillies will be a better team though and Braves are still Braves.

Rangers signed LHP Matt Harrison to a five-year, $55 million contract extension. The deal also includes an option for the 2018 season.

If thats true Theo is stupid for turning that down. With Baez as the ss of the future and a massive upgrade looming in the OF, Its silly he didnt pull the trigger.

I'd rather have the best middle IF or left side of the infield in baseball.

I like Upton, but not enough to give up a cheaply controlled, plus SS.

My god, talk about top of the list of things I thought I'd never hear.

What a turnaround they've made.
